It'll pass. Just a phase between witless religions. People haven't given up on their quest for the eternal comfort-blanket their just waiting for better packaging and the church will deliver, or some other religion. Notice this decline of religiousity happened when consumerist materialism was approaching its never to be repeated zenith? Now the reality of oil depletion is limiting growth of the materialist genie for always and soon there'll be less pressies under the xmas tree but you can rely on the screw-worms of religion to invent imaginary replacements.

Every night I pray that Merkins follow this trend.

;this:

I've grown up in an atheist family in a secular city, atheism is the default to me, I never assume people are religious. In fact, the few religious kids at school were weirdos and God was a joke.
Exactly the same here.

When I was at school, we used to kill atheists. It was so funny.

That could be anywhere in the world, you need to be more specific.
We should be MOST skeptical of ideas we like because we are sufficiently skeptical of ideas that we don't like. Penn Jillette.

In Britain the king/queen has always been more important than god. Next level of evolution: do away with those high-costing monarchs, Brits!

Not much ,that's the point ! A bit of tradition to attract tourists, a few national buildings the national trust doesn't have to upkeep ..some one to put a final rubber stamp on laws, someone to smooze foreign heads of state and put on nice show .

it's not eating into our national hearts that we are deprived our Freedumb because we are ruled by a monarchy .
