True, but it vastly lessens the possibility that I'll ever be exposed to the reasoning. The extreme claims the advert made are simply scare tactics, as far as I can tell. Marketing. A good idea will sell itself without resorting to such. If it's so great, why not publish it in a peer-reviewed journal instead of trying to sell it over the Internet?

Not sure what standards you might be referring to, but using scare tactics to appeal to a public that has been exposed to so many scare tactics by the tin-hatters seems like a very unwise marketing strategy, which makes me question their market saavy, at least. That sort of marketing approach appeals more to the gullible and already-scared, as well as conspiracy theorists, not so much to intellectuals or professionals in the field of economics. That leads me to expect that the content of his product will likely be of little intellectual or professional appeal. Just the 5-minute intro was enough to drop my IQ by 50 points. With my IQ level, I can't afford to watch another 90 minutes of the same.
