Re: Muslins WTF.
Why would you believe a person is moral based solely on their profession of faith, please?

I'm not saying that faith=morality. I'm saying that someone's morality can be linked to their faith, and that a person's faith can revolve around morality.

If this morality is based on the bible I would be very afraid of that person.Chuck Jones wrote:I'm not saying that faith=morality. I'm saying that someone's morality can be linked to their faith, and that a person's faith can revolve around morality.

Because you'd be grateful to have clothes on your back and food down your throat. Otherwise, you'd just be mean.

Re: Muslins WTF.
I don't think you can equate faith with morality, because the bible is such a shitty example of immorality. SO if you get your faith from the bible, it's based on one of the most immoral works in history. Therefore your premise that morality is linked with faith is shown to be mistaken.Chuck Jones wrote:Because you'd be grateful to have clothes on your back and food down your throat. Most christians are benevolent, not malevolent. It doesn't matter if there are "bad" bits in the bible bacause it is not the bible that would be clothing and feeding you, it would be a person. Also, I did not equate faith with morality, and I made that clear on the last page. So that's another strawman.

Declaring a strawman and proving a strawman are two different things. You haven't proven a strawman yet, you've just ignored the parts you don't like.Chuck Jones wrote:Strawman.Gawdzilla wrote:I don't think you can equate faith with morality, because the bible is such a shitty example of immorality. Some morality is faith-based, some ain't. It's not hard.
IMO, faith-based morality is based on a Noble Lie. Underlying it is basic human mores that developed through both biological and sociological evolutions. Hence the great overlap between faith-based and secular human mores.

Re: Muslins WTF.
If you think you get morality from the bible, you're kidding yourself. Same with thinking it can only be from faith. Atheists are, if anything, more moral than religious people because they don't have an excuse for bad behavior.

Yep, this is true.Chuck Jones wrote:I'm not saying that faith=morality. I'm saying that someone's morality can be linked to their faith, and that a person's faith can revolve around morality.
Religion and morality are elements of culture, and are neither mutually exclusive nor non exclusive.

It's seems my thread has taken on a life of it's own, what with chuckie baby trying to covert the forum, good luck with that. I'm much too embarrassed to check my own drunken rant hope it wasn't to bad though I do feel better for getting it off my chest.
