I thought it would be shit and boring because it had been slagged off so much, but I thought the acting from the leads was excellent and it whizzed along with great pace and excitement. Even after a couple of hours I would have been quite happy to sit and watch the final installment.

Yep, the core story is told properly despite the necessary conflation of the plot. The mood and tone are faithful to the book, IMNSHO.

I had motivation to read them. Brenda as a children's librarian and read the books for her courses. And naturally, she had to have someone to argue about them with. For that reason, but not solely that reason, I have read them all and seen all the movies. And I'm not insecure enough in my adulthood to pretend they're "beneath me."

lol... it's just meant for kids and it kind of shows, and some of us get bored by that sort of thing. Hardly a mystery, and that's why the "book for children" argument crops up.

I have no time for books and a long list I want to read. Anything my sister gushes about is barred from the list for all eternity, that includes Harry Potter and Twilight.
