Huge Charger fan...Super Bowl this year...although I have said that every year since the early 80's and have only been right once.

I can smell the season opening in the air.

Detroit had a %200 win improvement record last year, I'm hoping for another %200 this year after picking up the best player to come out of this years draft.

It's no fun to argue, but in my humble opinion, the joy of NCAA football eclipses that of the NFL pretty easily.

NFL owners have shown their support for
two extra regular season games , league
commissioner Roger Goodell said on
Wednesday.according to Goodell , the owners had not held
a formal vote to expand the regular season
from 16 to 18 games . However , a specific
proposal would go to the negotiating team
working with the NFL Players Association on a
new collective bargaining agreement .
The owners have previously said an 18- game
regular season and a reduction of pre - season
games to two from four could be put into
effect in 2012.
"From our standpoint , we think we' ve moved
this concept along, " Goodell said after meeting
with owners in Atlanta .
"There ' s a tremendous amount of momentum
for it. "
Agreement
Goodell said that while the owners had the
right, under league rules , to change the
schedule without a deal with the union , they
wanted to make sure all parties were in
agreement .
"We want to do this the right way and make it
good for players , fans and the game in general .
I look at this as an opportunity to create an
ragreement that will be good for players , good
for the league and take our league to the next
level , " he said .
Goodell also said there was no timetable for
talks with the union , although the plan would
be put to them "rather quickly" and that fans
had also supported the idea .
"The fans have spoken very clearly . They want
less pre - season and more regular season, " he
added .
Critics of the proposal say an increased number
of competitive games will increase the risk of
injury .
great idea 16 games a year is a joke

The chips beat some other team something-0.
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life

Exactly! Europeans always get hung up on the armor worn by American footballers. But there's a very good reason why American football requires extensive padding!

A few thoughts inspired by a scene in Invictus:

Cricket is a gentlemens' game played by gentlemen.
Soccer is a gentlemens' game played by hooligans.
Rugby is a hooligans' game played by gentlemen.
Football is a hooligans' game played by hooligans.

And I wouldn't have it any other way.
