See though that argument doesn't really hold water because "being dead" NOTHING should be working, but obviously it is as they are walking around, seeing, moving, eating, etc. If they are reanimated I don't know why their bowels wouldn't be as well

Going through town the other day on the bus with the 5 yr old we were zombie spotting in the crowd (some flashdance thing that morning, apparently) and she turned and said 'If there were zombies everywhere, and you didn't want them to eat your brains, you could dress up like a zombie in ripped clothes and walk funny, and they'd think you were a zombie too, and not eat your brains...' This is where the whole thing fails to masquerade as plausible, but that said I understand that the ones that get zombified don't exactly regenerate skin-cells, they decompose, don't they? The mystical thing is their being able to move around and act menacingly without there being any real sentience as well... I'd rule out a metabolism.
