I won't get my hopes up. The second was nowhere near as good as the first. Heath ledger was amazing as the Joker - but apart from that I thought it was pretty dull. The bit with two-face seemed almost added in as an afterthought, and the bit where the Batmobile crashes and is written off, but then part of it splits off into a bike (with such wide flat wheels that it couldn't possibly corner) was just silly.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]

I just facepalmed so hard the baby across the street started crying.

Whatever, it was still silly.

I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. [...] I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

Um...
I think it's more 'he's ending the films' and it'll have some wanky open-ending.
