I'm glad it was properly addressed, Ronja. The only reason why stuff like this would be upsetting to anyone is because you care. :hugs:

If you want me to move it back to the Wilder Web, I'll be happy to - let me know what you want as an edit to the OP if that's the case.

Because I am paranoid by nature, have seen a number of RatSkep posts disappear and links to posts get mixed up during this last week, and (most importantly) I am a fair bit more angry about both Sityl's behavior and the modnote that Zwaarddijk got than I wanted to show in my official complaint (the one I quoted in the OP).

In other words: I wanted independent proof (as much as one can get on the open net) of that I have posted that question on RatSkep. I also needed to vent. And I do not feel safe to vent at RatSkep. Which is really sad - but as I said before: I am by my nature paranoid. It may well be that I am overreacting.

And Anthroban: no, I have not gotten my hopes up. But I am trying to learn more about why some web communities seem to work well and some not so well, and posing the question in the OP may help me learn more.

What's that about curiosity and the cat? :ask:
I think you are being a bit paranoid about it, but that's fair enough. I had visions of this turning in to another almighty shitstorm here - thankfully that hasn't happened.

Yet. :naughty:

Mai, I want to sleep on this. There are really good arguments for this thread being in the Wilder Web AND for it staying here. Is it OK if I let you know tomorrow? :hugs:

EDIT: and in case someone did not notice, this ^^ is YOUR cue to express opinions, too (if you want to) about where this thread, or possible future threads like it, belong.

Damn, I just encouraged derailing / topic drift in a thread I started!

Oh well, happens in the best of families, I'm sure... ;)

Topic drift. :eddy:

Now that sounds much better. :dp:

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

They use groynes to prevent longshore drift; should we use groins to do the same with topic drift? :ask:

There's too much of the "Putting out fire with gasoline" principle there, if you ask me...

It's possible to put a fire out with gasoline, I would advise against it though.

I think, on the whole, that I prefer this thread to be "archived" in The Wilder Web, now that the original issue has been addressed at RatSkep. Keeping the thread in the Lounge while the RatSkep staff were still dealing with this was motivated, but now that the issue has been satisfactorily handled, I see no reason for further semi-secrecy.

Mai, if the modnote in the beginning of the OP could say: "Added 2nd November 2010: Ronja wants you to know that this issue was dealt with by RatSkep staff in a timely manner and quite satisfactorily, as reading the whole RatSkep thread (linked to in the OP below) also shows."

Thanks!
