I have no idea...but going by things that usually are involved when growing viruses, I think it is bound to be noxiously stinky (not that people get to smell Ebola cultures, anyway, because they're supposed to be donned in attire like this)

Very true. I just have a vague memory of a researcher talking about culturing a low-risk virus in a flask, getting a scent of grapes from it, and how he freaked out for a moment because Ebola (or some equally deadly virus) is supposed to have the same smell. Maybe if I have some time later I'll look for it.
