Re: Assassins in the Castle Game Thread
I'm going to go out on a limb and impart some wisdom from the one previous game i played.
1) The less chat, the better. This game is not about scumhunting. It's about giving clues to tha assassins. The more we talk, the more they know.
2) Voting for a known royal might make the rest of us think you don't know who the royals are, and will lead to a lynch. But, if nobody ever votes for the royals, the assassins can use process of elimination to determine who they are. You're damned if you do, and you're damned if you don't.
3) Split bandwagons are good and bad for the above reasons.
4) Discussion of tactics is scummy as all hell. I know I'm setting myself up by telling you guys any of this. It might just be a ruse to cover my ass if I accidently vote a royal. It might be a scummy attempt to clear my name on day 1 because; why would i out the royal's tactics unless I had something to hide?
Now that I have, I implore you all to kill me off quickly to be sure. Town can stand to lose one person. What town cannot stand to do is kill off every other towny who might be playing a slightly advanced town game (by voting a royal). We need to make scum guess whether a royal would have gotten several lynch votes or no votes at all.
That is the only ruse that can lead to a town win. Do we have balls or not?
If they think we have no balls, they win.
If they think we do have balls, they win.
If they're not sure, we have succesfully planted the WIFOM that will allow us to win.
Please keep this in mind.

Thanks for this, this is my first assassins game and was wondering what the differences were.Zigmen wrote:I'm going to go out on a limb and impart some wisdom from the one previous game i played.

If I read it right the key to winning is to keep the whole thing confusing and unbalanced.
Think I can do that.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Re: Assassins in the Castle Game Thread
Yup; that's a lesson I missed skimming the old Mafia game threads. I'll try to avoid that in the next game, since that knowledge seems to have come too late to help me in this one.Zigmen wrote: I think he learned that revenge voting is scummy. and that playing the noob card is not as credible anymore thanks to someone who shall remain nameless (cough cough).
Although my vote merely arose from the fact that Normal's dithering seemed like a suspicious attempt to sow confusion, hence the reference to the equivicator in "Macbeth." That said, feel free to hoist me on my own petard!
