You were the only non-sprinkle town in the game. I figured with all the circular firing squad likely to happen, the token vanilla player needed some armor.

I was right...you were targeted by town twice before scum finally went for you on night 6.

OH!

Almost forgot. The querant's interpretation of the first two cards were written by Feck and Morticia. Thanks for that!

My concept for the OP/nightfall extended reading sort of morphed as the game went along. I started with the idea of cards warring it out to determine the outcome for a querant's imaginary and ill defined situation. By day 3, the cards of the lynched/nked players and the game had started to parallel, so the reading became more and more about the game and less and less about the imaginary querant. As I was writing up today's final card interpretations, the transformation was complete and I was "reading" a conglamorate town's final outcome.

To select town's cards, I randomly selected card 1-10 and a suite 11 times. All of town were non-face card minor arcana. The scum cards were not random - I picked 3 major arcana cards with extremely negative meanings, and I gave all three scum a special ability to help balance the town sprinkles. When the game started, I thought the scum team might be a little underpowered, but it turned out to be a well matched game.

My original design had dedicated specials, but I needed at least 6 more players to make that one work. So, I scaled back, scattered the special abilities all over town, and came up with the idea for influence cards for each day and night.

I think I should have spent a little more time running scenarios with the influences. I realized partway through the game that chance was becoming way too much of a factor in who would win or lose the game. I stayed with the design, but did a lot of nailbiting the last 3 days. I wanted both teams to have a good chance at winning based on their skills - not on the luck of the card draw.

I am going to do another tarot based game sometime. I'll definitely use what I learned from this game to make it more skills-based and less luck of the draw.

Next time, I'll start with the idea that the querant is conglamorate town.

So UT -- can you explain the 3 that you blocked - Denny & Mort - were you trying to set them up?

No, I was just blocking them like I blocked someone every night. That night I just got to block two instead of one and I had blocked you the night before. We were trying not to block any of the player people were suspicious of since we didn't want the game to end if I got lynched and people backtracked to who had been blocked. When charlou's kill was also blocked we saw an opportunity to fos the hell out of the three of them and charlou bluffed magnificently.

my feedback for town:

- even though you had sprinkles, you were still vanilla town. the advantage to a sprinkles format is that the special abilities aren't all that "special" in terms of being in the hands of only one player. Normal seemed to get this - he outed his night 1 view right away. If every town player had done that with every bit of information you gained from the night actions, it would have made the game a lot harder for scum than it already was.

- the self-protection night action (commuter) was a trap. the people who chose that option put survival over info, which usually doesn't make sense when you are vanilla town - even with sprinkles.

- the ninja/bus driver role kept being passed up, but that is actually a very powerful role. In games where people play together frequently, some things become fairly predictable - especially who is likely to be night killed early. the bus driver role makes it possible to protect/endanger those players because you can switch a player likely to be killed because of their reputation with a player who is likely to skate. And, you may get lucky and swap a scum player with town and have a scum-on-scum kill. I've seen that happen. it was hilarious.

- and finally, the night kills tell you a lot more than just who might have been getting warm with their suspicions earlier in the game. They tell you what kind of endgame scum may be trying to set up. And if good players are dropping like flies early (ghat, higgs, etc.) then suspicion should grow on the good players who weren't targeted. scum teams adapt to this quickly and start leaving good players in the game longer precisely because they come under suspicion. they have to trade off the wifom against the danger of an experienced player figuring out what is going on.
