The reference to 'Third world' was not actually insulting the UK, so much as racist. Apparently he was referring to the numbers of ethnic minority people around Heathrow. Two insults for the price of one! Woohoo!

Anyway his gout, the result no doubt of too much holy foi grass means he 'can't' make the trip after all....

What a great article! Some Vatican bigshot puts his foot in his mouth and the Holy See's spin doctors go nuts trying to explain what he really meant. I wish the US got these kind of comments from Vatican officials.
Anybody know if and when His Holiness expects to visit the US?

I used to go though Heathrow a lot (pre refurb) and it was worse than much of the 3rd world (3rd world tends to take pride in it's gateway).

Looked very woggy as well.
