I was struck very forcibly about half an hour ago, reading about the pope's visit to the UK, quite how much total utter bullshit and bilge - the 'dogma' (always changing, always on the defensive, but always right!) you have to accept, believe in and live by, if you sign up to one of the big established religions.
Now I can kind of understand the average person taking a view that on balance there may be a god of some sort. After all there is still, despite Hawking's recent pronouncements, mystery at the core of the thing we call the universe/'reality'. That is a sort of defensible position, even if it is one most of us here would reject.
To take on the whole business of God, Jesus, the Pope/Patriarch/Archbishop/Imam thing, all the ritual, behaviour control devices, all the mind manipulation, all the guilt inducing claptrap as well!? What a load of utter bunkum!
And here comes a fucking man in white robes to tell us he knows the truth! FUUUUCK OFF! What a twat!
Apologies for the rant. It really hits home now and again, how fucking stupid and evil religion really is.
