Whatever. The stupidity of Islam is not dependent on it being more stupid than something else. It is stupid in its own right.klr wrote:It's a bit like a Catholic mass on steroids, and that is just a pointless waste of time at best.Coito ergo sum wrote:Because on this Eid, Muslims believe they are commanded by a non-existent skydaddy to recite that false god's praises all throughout the holiday (which apparently lasts three days). Reasonable response to an irrelevant, podunk minister burning a few copies of a book.....
Muslims always shoot themselves in the foot. It's like, come on....do you ALWAYS have to look like total douchebags?

Flashback: Muslims, of course, have no problem burning other folks' books and symbols.... http://www.associatedcontent.com/articl ... html?cat=9
I'm against all book burning, but Muslims can suck it. Fuck them. Fuck their stupid religion. And, I'll not kowtow to these fucking superstitious creeps.

I've yet to see moderate Islam.
I welcome the day it appears.

It's implied. "All" of any group doesn't do anything. It's always "some."Pappa wrote:The word "Some" is conspicuously absent from the start of that sentence.Coito ergo sum wrote:Muslims, of course, have no problem burning other folks' books and symbols.
Not all Nazis killed Jews or supported the final solution, but nobody is hesitant to say "The Nazis killed the Jews..." We know not all of them were involved. It's implied.

But it does imply that "All" of them are responsible. You're tarring all Muslims with the same brush. I know a handful of Muslims fairly well and I'm sure none of them would favour burning bibles, killing cartoonists, etc., etc..Coito ergo sum wrote:It's implied. I'm not nearly as mad at the batshit crazy Muslims as I am at those, Muslim and non-Muslim, who won't say shit to them when they threaten or carry out violence because somebody somewhere said something against their religion.
Sorry, but I've run out of sympathy for the societies anyone that pissed off about a fire in Florida is nit dismissed as a crank. They fucking make the Tea Party look like a sensible, easy going crowd that I'd love to hang out with sometime.

That's something to get pissed off at. When they have that kind of shit to riot over and instead they choose the party that their Christian counterparts were going to throw, it speaks volumes.maiforpeace wrote:Yes, there's nothing the US does to piss off the Afghans...

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

No, I'm not tarring them all with the same brush. We refer, quite often, to Christians doing this, Creationists doing that, Nazis doing this, the KKK doing that, etc. And, we don't see a lot of cautious, tap-dancey, warnings about not "tarring them all with the same brush." All over this board, I've seen references to rednecks, southern Americans, Christians, Americans in general, and many other groups, and we don't see this constant urgent warning about "not tarring them with the same brush." I'll be made to tap-dance and pay extra special care in dealing with Muslims.Pappa wrote:But it does imply that "All" of them are responsible. You're tarring all Muslims with the same brush. It doesn't imply all of anybody is responsible because, just like we say "the Germans invaded Poland" we know, implicitly, that not all Germans were responsible. Or, when we say, "Christians are protesting abortion" or "Catholics oppose contraceptives" we know it's not "all" of them, implicitly.

Just saying that America does plenty of other things besides threatening to burn Korans to piss off the Afghans. We can blame it all on the threat to burn a Koran, but that deep seated anger towards the US includes more than just the Koran burning.
