I'm not saying ALL companies that produce these products are inhumane - but I am saying that MOST 'factory farmed' methods are inhumane. Here in the US, 99% of products produced from animals are produced through factory farmed methods.
To your second statement about travelling and backtracking - I would challenge you to try to get a tour of a plant that produces factory farmed animal products. Unlike companies that produce products not made from animals, the meat industry has, over and over again refused to give the public a tour of their production facilities. Most of what we have learned about what really goes on in those plants have been from people infiltrating them illegally, or by accounts from people who used to work there. The beef, pork and poultry lobby is as powerful as the oil one.
If the public really knew what went on at factory farms, then I feel certain people would eat less animal products than they do now, and/or make a more concerted effort to buy products from more humanely produced methods.
