Welp.

reading over the night posts in the last 2 threads, it appeared to me that town gave away a lot of good intel to scum some nights.

Hi. I'm on my way to work. I'm not scum, please don't vote for me again (unless you are scum and want to kill me).

Hi oblivion, I'm not familiar with you either, what's your RatSkep username?

Yes unless you bookmark a new thread with  or :pawiz: or :I-love-pork: you won't look suspicious and there isn't much to go on.

On reread, this really pings. Eduard if you believe random votes aren't worth it, you are wrong.

Yes possibly killing innocent specials on day 1 really improves the odds for our team (assuming you are also town).
Since there isn't a time limit, making rash decisions on day 1 won't be a wise choice according to me. In retrospect, I'm glad you called Budski out, don't get me wrong.

oblivion wrote: One can argue whether the day 1 lynch is truly random, but even if you believe it is, the info town gets from it to analyze in later days makes it worth the probability that a truly random lynch will lynch town.

What I meant with my initial post quoted is that I'm about to go to sleep and I will not be voting for anyone, because I haven't seen enough reason to suspect someone on a balance of probabilities (i.e., most likely being scum). In absence of adequate suspicion I could either refrain from posting or randomly choose someone for a lynch (which the scum team could use to start a trend and other people would chime in to keep flying under the radar). I refrained, I'm sorry if people interpret that as...

I'm unfamiliar with this slang, but I assume it means my previous post looks suspicious.

Back to the grindstone.

Two absents, who in my opinion, get away with murder by doing so, but benefit of the doubt and I won't vote either of them.

Vote Ed

I just think not commiting to the vote is scummy.
I do think if we get it wrong day 1, there is something to be gained.
[sarcasm]MagicZiggy's rules on Mafia suspicion (based on the games we shared here and on RatSkep):

1. Not Posting is scummy. fuck your timezones, real mafia players get up at 3:30 AM to catch up and smoke out scum. Action: Lynch vote the person.

2. Succinct Posting looks scummy. Action: Lynch vote the person.

3. Elaborative posts can either be deemed as fluff or scumflail. Action: Lynch the person.

4. Do not attack MZ directly or lynch vote him in return: Action: Lynch vote the person.

5. If MZ casts aspersions on someone, shouldn't you do the same? Action: Lynch vote the person.

6. MagicZiggy doesn't want you to assume he is town, if you do... Action: Lynch vote coming your way.

7. MagicZiggy doesn't want you to assume he might NOT be town, if you do... Action: Lynch vote courtesy of MZ

8. Respond to any post by MZ in ANY way, regardless of how offtopic, and he will find a way to illustrate it's scummines. Action: You're gonna get lynched.

9. Playing the game, yet refraining from accusing someone without proper evidence is bad in MZ's eyes. Ergo: you are probably scum and MZ is rarely wrong (according to MZ).

10. Do not seem overly-agreeing with Mz or anyone that cast a vote for a suspicious player. Because you demonstrated that you have no initiative of your own and you are going with their flow you are also by definition scummy. No, saying that you agree with their train of thought and reasoning is not an excuse, you are blindly voting. Action: You are scum and your ass is next on the line.

11. Do not say you are innocent. Do not post something that could be interpreted as a lie, but is not, and afterwards claim you are innocent. Do not ask to not be voted for, because you are innocent. Action: even though you are innocent, there is an apparant authority on mafia playing and style (which MZ is part of of course) and you will be lynched for not adopting the same style of play.

Conclusion: If MZ posts something about you, ignore it. Do not look him in the eyes, just back away slowly and try to change the topic by telling everyone that you are innocent (which assuming you are) or that "this shit is fucked up" as Budski pointed out (if you are scum).

I just broke rules 3, 4, 8 ,10 and 11 already so it seems I'm next.[/sarcasm]

:hehe: you know, scum love it when two townies go at it on the thread...

Ed, hittin' da club is ostensibly bailing from the game thread, while things are uncertain. Scum can use this technique to avoid lynch voting someone or answering questions etc. Oblivion wanted to know your time zone to see if your going offline could have been bluff.

I don't think oblivion plays mafia on ratskept.

I don't see any need for this sarcasm, nor for bringing any personal issues you may have with gameplay on another forum to this game. It's unconstructive and irrelevant. I'm inclined to vote you out based on this alone.

Thanks for the explanation Twinkie. Sleep is required, I wasn't bailing.
:td:

Charlou, you guys take this GAME, way too seriously if you can't take a joke.

In fact if you had been more vigilant on RatSkep you would've noticed that MZ has had personal issues with me in previous games and I didn't return the favour by targeting him in any subsequent games on day 1.

I don't have any ill feelings towards MZ, we just don't play the same style that's all. Jesus Christ, what's the use of a sarcams tag anyway...

Ani, even for you the flip-flopping was fairly hefty. And why the vote on me?

Mantis, you pulled out of the Ed lynch, but didn't move elsewhere.. a bit tentative...
I did take a look to see who would be in for the lynch if I pulled out, and that was Budski.... and I wasn't chafed by that decision.

Oblivion did have a point that it's not really very kosher to put a vote on someone, when they can't respond to it...

Sorry that you are toast Budski! But, glad that we got a scummy the first time around! :td:

Just to make my point clear, before I turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy. I posted this...

<snip>[/sarcasm]
... in response to this...
Magicziggy wrote:
Vote Ed

My underline. The joke was about a series of unwritten rules applied by MZ (and other players here that take things a bit too serious for a GAME) pertaining to how they think the game should be played. If you don't conform to their style of play you are usually suspected and if it turns out they were wrong then it's somehow your fault (also for not playing according to their style). This imperative is a frikkin' joke.

Disagree? I seem to recall that MZ said Animavore played in a style that did not conform to his and Ghat's view and he was duly "punished" for this. I'd love to know where one can get the set of mafia gameplay style rules that conforms to their view. I didn't find it so I created a set of rules myself. (Obvious reminder: this is a joke)

Back to the game...

I was actually surprised that I was being targeted after saying:

1. I was going to bed;

2. Budski was more suspicious, as pointed out by oblivion initially;

3. after explaining my train of thought;

4. having a view on how the game is played that differs from the set of unwritten rules.

As I said I am innocent, I noticed some subtle collusion between Mantis and MZ in their voting patterns. Let's see :smoke:

Have read recent posts and am somewhat surprised Ed.
I have fully left behind past games. I vote on what I see. Nothing more.
Part of leaving behind the issues is being able to vote for you if I think you are scum and not being hamstrung in thinking that it might offend.

I did take on board Oblivion's point about you not having a chance to respond.
I looked for an alternative and I found one.
