looks like the question isn't going to get answered. yay, what fun. people in general must be less capable than I thought.
I think your mistake was the particular group at which you aimed your question.

Ratz isn't exactly know for being entirely serious about anything
In the best laid plans of history lie the ruins of the past
And a chronicle of suffering shows the mythic pall they cast
To believe is true religion, but to see is truth at last
Oh no, too late to hold a trial, time doesn't wait for the watchmaker's dial

Out of interest, when you thought that in your head, as you were writing it, did it actually sound less pretentious and absurd than it must surely seem to you (and indeed everyone else) now?

Discussions about religions and other mythical crap are hardly serious subjects.

Yeah dude. To continue the responses of our fellows, we've already come to terms with our own thoughts. We don't have to defend what I think is the default state of not believing in woo. Woo has to be like "I'm right in your face in an unmistakable and objectively observable way" and then we call it science. You'll find a subforum on that.

I am a bit worried that you're underestimating people's intelligence a bit.

I'm sure we can all agree however that buschmaster has made a commendable contribution to the school of theology, and I'm glad someone of buschmaster's obvious intellectual calibre is here to show the rest of us just where exactly it is we're all going wrong.

And please don't read any backhanded subtext or sarcasm into this because there really is none.

Buschmaster, try the "General Serious Discussion & Philosophy" thread instead.

We dare be puir for a' that.

The question might be more usefully recast: "What makes humans imagine the existence of god thingies that are right?" Then this discussion might get somewhere.

Let's argue about things that have already been decided. The idea of God is wrong. It's wrong through and through. There's nothing right about the idea of God that can't be broken out and done some other way.

God isn't married. There's nobody to tell him he's wrong.

God is kind of a philanderer. I mean, first he fucks another man's wife (adultery?) and knocks her up (doesn't even pay child support). Maybe God defended the paternity action by claiming that the kid he spawned was actually himself, and therefore any child support would just be paying to support himself....then when God Incarnate grew up, he and his 12 bachelor pals whored around with trollops like Mary Magdalene.
