The one in my pic appears to be Aspergillus niger, Dory. AFAIK there was no stolon characteristic of Rhizopus.

Image

AFAIK, Aspergillus niger isn't an active parasite, and aspergillosis itself is very rare, ditto with Rhizopus, the more parsimonious explanation is that it took over after the dragonfly died, I've had the carcass for nigh on three months now.

Re:my accent, that was a bit toned down, I can sound posher (and more incomprehensible) if required.

I'll be working on another mold today, from the rest of the body...

I like this one, you could get the Tate gallery to hang that :

It must be from your "blue period".

Methinks mistermack might mean that your talent and skill are wasted on mere RatZ.

mistermack: Be a Mensch and let GFL kill time as he sees fit - it's all he can do before his visa papers for University College London come through.

GFL: I liked the video, and so did Younger Daughter. Elder Daughter is not into dead bugs, apparently (there's an odd one in every family :sighsm: )

You should be in modern art. Damien Hirst would sell that for a fortune.

My micrography setup is really ad-hoc, and uses a cardboard adapter, but if I could get a proper microscope camera adapter, I'd say why not

Been adapting the adapter, and have some more images to share, am posting just what I think is the best of the lot.

Image

Mammalian liver, low power, from permanent slide.

Image

Striated Muscles.

Image

Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the stuff that makes bread and beer possible.

Image

Mosquito larva's head.

Image

Aspergillus niger fruiting body.

Image

Two fruiting bodies :hehe:

Image

Fruiting body flattened, sterigmata can be seen protruding from the vesicle, which was initially unexposed to stain.

Image

Aspergillus niger mycelial net.
