I'll be sitting by with my popcorn for this shit. Obama's a "Marxist"; Palin's a retard; he's an evil commie; she's an intellectually challenged 13 year old in the body of a middle-age soccer mom...

What I neglected to mention is the biggest change in the election process: the most recent extension of "corporate personhood", the Supreme Court ruling which allows corporations to spend unlimited amounts of money on political advertisements. We'll soon be electing a Verizon President, Exxon-Mobil Senators, and Walmart Representatives.
Who needs a signature anyway?

Obama will invade Iraq a la Bush. I mean Iran. They've already ransacked Iraq.

I'm not sure you can rank the Democrats any higher. After all, in order to reach his peeps, the President just appeared on the View, a program for the retards, by the retards.

It is interesting to read this thread, three weeks later, in a time when the major Republican candidates named in the thread have spent those three weeks playing "Who's The Biggest Bigot?" on their party media outlet.

Have you watched her speech at the 2008 Republican convention? She's popular because she gets the idea of the government working for the people, rather than the government telling the people what to do.Coito ergo sum wrote:She is very popular. Why, I have no idea.
Unfortunately she is poorly educated and has a poor understanding of the issues.

She never ceases to irritate me with her hyper-folksy and hokey delivery, with her little "gotcha" digs sprinkled throughout her speeches. She has a very "wink wink" delivery, like she's trying to talk to people in the crowd directly, and that she's letting them in personally on the secret - like - "wink wink - 'they' are trying to pull the wool over our eyes, but 'we' see right through those city-folk and their big city ways..."Warren Dew wrote:Have you watched her speech at the 2008 Republican convention? I find her approach insulting and condescending. She talks to people like they are idiots. And, she has never impressed me as having any understanding of history or philosophy, or anything else. She is a good glad hander and that's about it. She appeals to soccer moms, I think, because they think she's one of them now working in high office - they could be her - and they see any attack on her as an attack on them.

Concur. Which is why I'm hoping beyond realistic hope that she (or Mike Huckabee) gets the nomination in 2012. Unless Obama came down with explosive diarrhea during the debates, he'd walk away with a landslide.Coito ergo sum wrote:She never ceases to irritate me with her hyper-folksy and hokey delivery, with her little "gotcha" digs sprinkled throughout her speeches. That's not my impression of her 2008 convention speech. I can't vouch for any of her other speeches, because I haven't watched them - which is probably the case for most people.Coito ergo sum wrote:She never ceases to irritate me with her hyper-folksy and hokey delivery, with her little "gotcha" digs sprinkled throughout her speeches. Huckabee would likely beat Obama handily. He's got as good or better a grasp of the issues, plus he's got much greater appeal to the religious right. The only thing that could stop him would be lack of sufficient funding due to lack of support from the business community.Ian wrote:Concur. Unfortunately, he'd have similar policies to Obama - big government and support for religion - both of which are things I'd want to be getting away from.

Not sure where to start, except that I disagree with every word of that other than Huckabee having support from the religious right. He wouldn't stand a snowball's chance in hell against Obama.

I doubt he would beat Palin if the election were held now. I hate Palin, but I wouldn't underestimate her, if I were Obama.Ian wrote:Concur. Plus, people are really souring on Obama. Big time.
