Truth is far darker than the imagination

Post by Trolldor » Sat Aug 21, 2010 12:29 am

And so it is.

Another fine example of why this modern ego-centric self-absorbed feminism is nothing but an arrogant whine.
This constant endless bitching about their pay and glass ceilings, and their excuse for not addressing real suffering?
Oh, because apparently they need that extra money to pay for all those fucking shoes.

Good to know what Cambodia is doing since the end of the Vietnam war.

Why is this a modern feminist issue, particularly?

To paraphrase Ayaan Hsiri Ali -

When Germaine Greer was asked (By Ayaan) why she didn't comment on Islamic Women's rights, she responded "if we can't fix things at home how are we expected to help elsewhere?"
This is a woman who represents a great deal of the ideology of modern Western feminism.

I've raised the issue a number of times in a number of places, I did once on the old RDF and was attacked - by women - for stating that there are more pressing concerns than pay cuts.

I'd say it reflects on modern western people who have a hard time getting our minds around the fact that this stuff goes on.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Which means that an entire cause dedicated to Women's liberation which doesn't really liberate women is a waste of time and space.

At $200 a piece, I might even afford to liberate one of those slaves and bring her back with me to ensure her safety... the actual trip is what I might have trouble budgeting.

Increasing the demand might not be the best way to quash a slave trade, anyway.

I would agree with them to the extent that the existence of women's issues elsewhere in the world doesn't mean one should give up on women's issues in the west. It's not like the world can only work on one problem at a time.

Going against human nature is no way to quash anything.
