Look at this:

There's so much humour, tongue-in-cheekness, banter, to-ing and fro-ing and excellent forum fun.

Who the fuck is getting so hurt that it deserved huge moderator overkill like that?

I for one happen to find it faintly amusing that the current busiest thread on here is discussing the moderation on another forum

And some people do seem have to have gotten their panties in an almighty twist about this, Gawdzilla I'm looking at you here :flowers:

In general I would love for everyone to think the moderation is absolutely lovely, but in the absence of that fairy tale ending, having some people complain it is too strict while others complain it is too lax indicates to me that the truth probably lies somewhere in the middle. In much the same way getting simultaneous accusations of left-wing and right-wing bias probably means it is about right.

And I guess that here as just about everywhere some people just have a personal axe to grind for some incomprehensible reason. As FBM put it rather more elegantly, no forum will cater to everyone, but drama is always excellent fun for some people :D

Dev, can't you just accept it's done differently over there?

That's what really irks me. They had a chance to do it differently, but they just imported the RDF baggage and carried on.

I think they are, but there's no doubt that lately there seems to be some discontent. The interesting thing is that only a few weeks ago, it was discontent from the other side - i.e. there were complaints that the mods were letting too much slip through. But now the focus seems to be on them being too strict. They really are caught between a rock and a hard place, and I really think they are a genuine bunch of people who try their best to take on board as many ideas and opinions as possible.

Yes.
They get banned if they aren't
Well, that's a lie.

I'd imagine that most simply move on to a forum more to their liking w/out tossing a :hairfire: or a :panic: or a :livid: or a :helpme: or particularly a :tantrum:

But the numbers may be unknowable because they simply move along without posting much until they find a place they like. :dono:

Edit: Compare that to what happens here at Ratz. How many people have signed up compared to the number of people who post regularly? A lot of people don't find what they're looking for and quietly move along. I don't find anything to be upset about in that.
I honestly don't either; my problem is with the fucking ongoing whinefest in the Feedback threads at Ratskep, usually made by people who are uninformed or have a hidden agenda.

I like Ratskep better than Rationalia, and others are free to like Rationalia better than Ratskep.

I fail to see why the fuck anyone here has to trash Ratskep. Both places have their good parts and bad parts. So does every forum.

Also, every forum in the history of the Interwebs has people complaining moderators are too strict or too lax. BFD.

I don't think so. My point is that we've gravitated here because we like to play more than we like to compare IQs. In my limited experience, the balance swings in favor of IQ-comparisons over there. I like to play more than I like to compete for highest IQ, so I'm here more than I'm there. But I don't hold it against either the membership or the staff at RatSkep or TR because of their preferences. It just is what it is, and I don't see a good reason to expect or demand that it be different. :dono:

Perfect summary, thank you.

Try to post there, but in regard to a sacred cow, and get attacked by the members AND the staff.

I'll take it back if you can show ONE person banned permanently from Ratskep specifically for not being happy with their moderation.

Go for it.

I think they're just RatSkep/Rationalia members choosing this place as a platform to moan about it. I don't like it any more than you.
