I just thought that you were missing the point a bit. There will always be idiots who don't bother to learn how to use a gun properly and safely. So people will always be killed in gun accidents while lots of guns are around.

And plenty of people have been killed by people who DO bother to learn how to use a gun properly and safely. Cops and soldiers have been killed in firing range accidents by trained users. Accidents will always happen. You gave no evidence that this guy didn't bother to learn how to use a gun properly and safely. You just assumed it. Learning something and sticking to it are two different things.

So I think the point is that innocent people died, and will continue to die, not that people don't bother to learn, or that someone will get prosecuted.
