Just been to see Ayaan Hirsi Ali

Post by Faithfree » Mon Aug 02, 2010 2:40 pm

Just come from hearing Ayaan Hirsi Ali being interviewed by an Anglican minister in the chapel of a local Anglican boys school. Apparently her partner/husband is here in Western Australia for a conference and she was just tagging along and keeping a low profile, until asked to do the public interview by the school. This was all set up only a few days ago ago and not widely advertised - mostly word of mouth and school website. I found out only a few hours ago from my local atheist group, one of whom found out from a school kid. Despite the short notice, the place was packed way beyond capacity with a diverse, but mostly very supportive audience. Got there early and had a good seat. Kylie Sturgess from our group got permission to record and podcast it - will post the link when I have it if of anyone is interested.

I would LOVE to hear it, and look forward to the link. What a treat for you!

I'm curious to know how that went with an Anglican minister interviewing her...

It was a strange venue indeed. Apparently it all happened because someone she is staying with is connected to the school, or so I heard.

Just lucky I came back from the bush a couple of days earlier than originally planned.

I bought Nomad today.

Ranked Second for 'best selling book' in the Bookstore.
I was surprised.
