I went to one of those group meetups for atheists and there were all ages there, but few college students. Not that I doubt what you say. I think the atheist ranks get thinned out a little when people get married and have kids.
Are you saying that people stop being atheists when they marry and have kids?

It's probably the same reason that you stop seeing such people at wine tastings or book club meetings or other things they used to participate in - their priorities changed. Doesn't mean they quit drinking wine, stopped reading books, or whatever - it just means you are probably more likely to find them pushing a baby stroller around the zoo or children's museum.

When I was still in college my older sister and her husband (who had no kids yet themselves) were visiting from out of town, and really came to see some old friends who were married and had two children who were maybe 6 and 8. I think the men had met through work because they were both academics and very intellectual and intelligent. I was invited for dinner at the house, and the subject came up over coffee that the older couple had joined a church and went every Sunday with the kids. My brother-in-law knew the guy when they were both avowed atheists and it really bugged him. The older couple tried to explain that they were really doing it for the kids, felt they need some moral "training" so to speak, and some community. My brother-in-law accused his friend of being a total hypocrite. It didn't help.

If you think about all the things we do "for our kids" you begin to realize how much our shared morality is impacted by it. The current crazed version of the US drug laws started when some mothers in florida found their sons using drugs and were outraged and marched on Washington to have get some help in keeping our kids pure. Carter caved and started the DEA. Our current crazed version of DUI laws is the way it is because of MADD. We have nice liberal young people who oppose all those stupid things, and we will surely clean up the mess when they get older, except most of them will probably have kids too.

That was the biggest load of wank I have ever seen.

So she's officially admitting that she's completely crazy? or is there really something to get from the OP statement that my feeble faculties did not comprehend?

Like the protestant ones aren't?

I never understood how she became a Christian in the first place.
Neither do I... especially, it seems she 'converted' or tried to, and now is calling it quits?
I definitely miss some important data on that matter, but then again, I never was interested in ms rice.

She's still a Christian, she just doesn't belong to any church.

Which makes little sense unless she's going to a desert to become a hermit mystic...

It makes perfect sense.

She doesn't agree with the tenets of her belief but she can't let go of it.
