Ok, look at the US civilian/military casualties and compare that to Al Quaida's. Shit, alot of those imported Mujahideen were previously jailed in their own countries for domestic terrorism. However fucked up capitalism is, and I grant it can be VERY fucked up and heinous, it pales in comparison to these Islamists.
You want me to look at US civilian/military casualties from when? do you include sanctions? What time period are you talking about? I don't even know what you are comparing. This is not a "one or the other" scenario as much as people like to make it that. I am with neither with the "terrorists" (the US) or the other "terrorists" (the Islamic fuckwits).
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

Here's a good talk by Chomsky on the hypocrisy of the 'war on terror'.

Fucking civilians.
If the true bad guys didn't instigate it, never would have happened. Know your enemy.
You and Meeky have some truth in your arguments that Western governments have too often been deceptive and dishonest whith their citizens, but this argument (essentially that 9/11 was provoked by American actions, and if not justified, was close to it) is complete crap. Islamic terrorists get their justification from a twisted and evil world view springing from a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam. They are not the modern day equivalent of the French resistance...

How much simpler the world would be if that were true. But I'm afraid it's not. That is not to undermine the role of religion as a fuel but I don't think that's the only cause.

Like a documentary film-maker on child suicide bombers recently said, "If you are made to live in these circumstances, then you might just prefer death to life." These terrorists took a long time in the making but we hardly did anything to stop that. Now that the problem has been blown out of proportions, we have trusted the utterly moronic military establishment to solve it. Not the wisest choice, IMO.

It's not only "don't think", Islam is 100% not the only cause. Thats the same old "they hate us for our freedom" BS. Baloney.

Very amusing, the leftist apologia for totalitarian Islamic fascists... In the rush to get into bed with "the enemy of your enemies", you will have clearly wiped all thought about the clearly stated, vicious, anti-humanist message of jihadists all the world over...

There is no doubt a wide variety of other motivations for attacks on the west, and many will have understandable roots in the suffering of the Palestinians, the actions of the Israeli government, and some poor decisions by America in the past. However, both the left and the right get so completely polarised in these sorts of debates, that the world becomes black and white, rather than the murky shades of grey it truly is...

Not even. And your talking about black and white, at the same time your saying "if you don't believe that islam is the only reason the US was attacked, then you must be an apologist for them." :?

Get a good dose of what it's like talking to a true communist, and you will soon know all you need to know about the OP question.

That is obscure, even by your standards. I would be willing to bet you are not a big fan of Wikileaks, but let's have your 2 cents worth as to why...

And give Sandinista a good serve, just for the lolz. I suspect he thinks I am of the right; I want him to meet the real thing...

That or Toontown accidentally posted in the wrong thread. It sounds like a reply to "What would a Communist country look like?"

I don't really think anyone is "right" or "left" to be honest. I am not judging you as anything, really. I also don't think TT is "right", I also don't need to meet him, I've come across him (or her, never can tell on the web) on other forums. Makes me :D

Edward Said et al might just disagree with you there. The USA is behaving like a colonial force. 9/11 was their Indian Mutiny. Those who think America has not provoked the Middle East are simply deluding themselves, living in a cartoon reality where Captain America saves the day repeatedly.
