hehe.... Well, I don't get paid by the word, you know!

To elaborate, somewhat, I thought CP played kirk a little too "cool" for my tastes and I couldn't empathise with his character at all. I expected him to have "Kirk" like traits, but in a more raw expression. In this film it was played as Kirk-Lite. More of an imitation (not of the actor, but of the character.) Where as Mr Urban played it well and made it his own without losing the "essence" of Dr McCoy.

Ele loved them all!!

My 2 friends and I were all going to go together, but one bailed out to go with another group -_-

However, now me and the other friend are trying to get a group together to go on Saturday.

We hope to be able to dress up for it. XD

No, he now thinks he's a Vulcan and is going to live to be 200.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Saw it - loved it. I wanted more 'Scotty' (excellent choice, in my opinion)
Bones was recognizable before he even opened his mouth.

Warning this post definitely contains spoilers

Saw it! My two friends and I did end up dressing up, I may have to post a picture of me just for that. But it was great fun.

In my opinion the casting was good, I generally liked the way the characters were portrayed--generally the same but with a few important differences that made it interesting. And the special effects were not just smoke, lights, and figurines on string! That was exciting. Also Leonard Nimoy's appearance! Several people in the theater applauded when he came on.

But I really disliked Spock and Uhora's relationship. I realize that they were trying to portray Spock as caught between two very different species and that he was emotionally conflicted--wanting to be a "proper" Vulcan but still suffering with higher emotions than the others around him. While he refused to treat his human side as a "weakness" he still is trying to appear mostly Vulcan even when he's on Earth around humans. ANd in the middle of his logic he throws in a relationship, not just something that is based solely on emotions but also with the unlogical choice of one of the students at the academy he worked at? Eh. It just seemed a little to stretched to me. I also didn't really like Uhora's character much, but hmm.

Or maybe I am just jealous XD

But I really liked it a lot, for the most part.

We watched it a few days back and thought it was highly enjoyable. Scotty in particular (but we are both Simon Pegg fans).

I watched it awhile ago and while I thought that 'Bones' was so well chosen I didn't even need to hear him speak to recognize him, somehow the choice for 'Scotty' seemed even better.
I hope we see a few more with this crew.

I'm really, really sorry. I really wanted to like this film, I really did. In fact, I did like the beginning. The effects were brilliant, the action was tense.

But... Once I saw the young Kirk driving through the desert and nokia.com came on his dash board when his uncle rang him, from that moment on I hated this movie. My brain switched to hyper-critical mode. When Leanord Nimoy came on I clasped my face in my hand in embarrassment. Simon Pegg's accent was woeful (I'm sure lordpasterneck can back me up on this). I sat through one clichéd hanging off a ledge scene after another in disgust and all because of one little product placement.

Shame on you J.J. :nono:

I actually left when Nimoy came on. They were trying too hard to link to the original series, IMNSHO.

Just to add.

Wouldn't it be real cool if Spock rode the hole off Kirks aul one and then done a mind-meld on him...
