Why not? Absence of evidence for the existence of something is generally a reason to refrain from concluding that something exists.

But, if it's positive evidence you seek, well, I google-Earthed Mt. Olympus and there were no gods there.

God clearly exists in many people's experience, so I suppose you mean exist in the scientific sense. I guess you'd have to explain why god appears in our experience, if it does not in fact exist.

Proof for the non-existence of God is founded on pure logic. Douglas Adams illustrated it best.

• Now it is such a bizarrely improbably coincidence that anything so mindbogglingly useful [the Babel fish] could have evolved by chance that some thinkers have chosen to see it as a final and clinching proof of the non-existence of God.
  The argument goes something like this: "I refuse to prove that I exist," says God, "for proof denies faith, and without faith I am nothing."
  "But," says Man, "the Babel fish is a dead giveaway isn't it? It could not have evolved by chance. It proves you exist, and so therefore, by your own arguments, you don't. QED"

I love the way this joke utilises the argument from fine tuning, which has traditionally been used as a "proof of god", as a of "disproof" god.

Basically....

Theism is defined as belief in a god like the god of Abrahamic religions. He is a god who actively brings the universe into being and is looking over it.

Deism covers the concept of god as a kind of force of nature. Completely non-personified.

Those who've read it... would that be a fair precis?
