Was anybody else amused that the same actor played two different Galapagos explorers?

 Just watched it. Brilliant stuff.

Toy Story 3. I had absolutely no use for a third installment. It held no interest whatsoever, even though I loved the first one and quite liked the second. I felt as if there was no more that need be said, and I would have preferred Pixar work on something brand new rather than rehash old stuff. However, I found this Toy Story the 3rd to be surprisingly engaging, enjoyable, and, dare I say it, poignant. I cried lots
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

tattuchu wrote:Well I liked Magnolia. So last night I watched another film by the same director, There Will Be Blood. Liked that one as well. This director certainly gets powerful performances out of his actors. Today in the mail I should be getting yet another film by this director, Punch Drunk Love. Anyway, check out this vid from the Magnolia soundtrack. Am I imagining things, or does Aimee Mann look like someone we know?

Does look a bit like Dev, don't she?

I thought it was great! What let it down though was not using the opportunity to make it more dreamlike - you know - being chased by a car made from a a jelly mould, suddenly turning into a rabid wolf etc..

So anyway, Inception, great film. Not perfect, indeed a couple of things were questionable and I'm going to start a spoilered thread now in a minute. But overall it was solid and incredibly shot, very similar to TDK in this regard. The soundtrack even more so. There's some really clever special effects and action scenes. The story, though predictable in parts, is a bit of a head trip as the film works on different layers, dreams within dreams, as they say.
A few critics said it lacked emotion. I really didn't see this as a problem for this film as it was more concept driven than character driven. Not only that, the type of people in it, mostly intellectual types, just wouldn't be that emotional as people like that in real-life tend not to be victims of there emotions the way other people might be. I think maybe these critics should stick with Ken Loache or something, I'm really not sure their problem.
Then there are others who are accusing Nolan of being a pseudo-intelectual and biting off more than he can chew. I can sort of understand where they're coming from, visually it didn't seem like any dream I've ever had, mine are usually full of weird looking creatures, Asian, mutant prostitutes, Nazi bunnies and such like, I don't think that's a problem for this film any more than spaceships exploding in the vacuum of space is a problem for Star Wars. Once you do a film about something like dreams or taking drugs you can only ever convey this imperfectly. Fear and Loathing is a case in point.
Anyway I loved it. Not everyone will. Some might find it boring. Others have said it's too long, I didn't think it was long enough, there were a few things which were talked about briefly which I would've liked to have seen explored further. Check it out and see what you think.

It was o.k. Predictable. Overly-long. No real surprising twist.

Agreed.

Special effects were o.k.

Yes. It's good enough. Better than the 2nd one and we'll just pretend the AVP films didn't happen.

It wasn't that long. Although it was a bit predictable in places. It didn't bother me that much.

They done the job. It's main problem is that the film was nothing like a dream. More like parallel realities.

It never ceases to amaze me that two of the stars of Predator became Governors of U.S. States. :nono:
