I liked the mixed shower scene
It's a piece of piss to be cowiz, but it's not cowiz to be a piece of piss. Or something like that.
Re: Starship Troopers
I wasn't aware the book had a mixed shower scene.

I took the book with me to the jungle. (Along with LOTR and Stranger in a Strange Land.)pawiz wrote:I liked the mixed shower scene
The movie is about five percent of the book with a lot of shit thrown in.

Re: Starship Troopers
Imagine the parts left out of the Peter Jackson LOTR movie. That's similar to what's left out of the SST movie. Our Hero starts out young, dumb and full of cum, and has to learn some hard lessons.Animavore wrote:There's a book
The book is a study of a possible social system, one where you can stooge along in life, taking care of yourself first. OR you can serve the community you live in for a while, two years in most cases. IF you chose to give back to the community, you get to join in the decision making process, i.e., you get to vote. No service, no vote. There is no stigma associated with not serving, it's just something you chose not to do.
Re: Starship Troopers
There are a couple of other ideas there as well.
One part speaks about war being 'controlled violence' as a way of getting somebody else's goal.

Of course. I don't want to regurgitate the book, but the above was the most important thing I got from it.Don Juan Demarco wrote:There are a couple of other ideas there as well.

The controlled violence idea was perverted into the knife scene in the movie.

Enjoyed it. Agreed with some parts, disagreed with others.

I was never much of a fan of Heinlein's juvenile books, (mainly because of Scribners' censorship) but that was one of the better ones (perhaps why they rejected it?).
