So far just general violence and property destruction, arson, assault, battery, that sort of thing. No murders that I'm aware of.

Where's the violence, just from the pigs. The people were not assaulting citizens, or committing battery. What the fuck are you talking about? Oooh a burning cop car, shit we had more burning cop cars when the Habs won a fucking playoff game. The pigs are committing violence, not the people, the blue bloc, if you will. Protesting is illegal in canada. Besides that, trying to compare photos of protest rallies with the tea party? Really? Devils advocate is a lame game to play.
Our struggle is not against actual corrupt individuals, but against those in power in general, against their authority, against the global order and the ideological mystification which sustains it.

sure they are. The local business owners are citizens.

The riots at the G-20. What are you talking about?

That's nice. They're criminal acts, of course. Serious felonies committed by douche bags.

Sure they are. Because anytime there are peaceful demonstrations, the cops in Canada attack the demonstrators.

No it isn't.

Just comparing protests to protests. In the one instance, protesters riot, attack, destroy property, hurl things, break windows, mess up the streets leaving trash and garbage all over, and set fire to things. In the other, they don't, but the mainstream media outlets like CNN and MSNBC wring their hands wondering when they'll inspire riots.... seems an ironic juxtaposition, that's all.

And, please, don't pretend that the far Left socialists and anti-capitalists don't routinely intend the violence that occurs at these demonstrations. That's what they're there for. Read any of the numerous articles about the strategy of black blocs. And, union thugs are hardly shy from using violence either. That's why there are reports from all over the world, Europe, the US, Canada, South Korea, etc., of similar tactics being used over and over again. Don't be naive.

blah blah fucking blah...again, most of the violence committed is by the pigs and the state, not the people.

Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms lists freedom to peaceably assemble as a fundamental right. Protesting is not illegal in Canada. If you want to state your legal basis for the assertion that "protesting is illegal in Canada," please do. I'll wait.

If, of course, by "protest" you mean turning over cars, setting things on fire, bashing in windows, and rioting, well, those things are illegal.

Yes it is. The charter is not followed any more. The only protesting allowed is "protesting" that has no chance of effecting any change whatsoever and is only done under the strict guidelines of the state (read:peaceably).

Funny, the last time I was in Ottawa, there were people protesting right outside Parliament, and outside the US Embassy. And, the G-20 protests were not illegal. The rioting was illegal.

Yah, and the "people protesting" were most likely state sanctioned. If not, they would have been arrested. I've been involved in enough protests in canada to know this. No, the protetsting was illegal, the "riots" were allowed to happen. Just two clips of many, a simple youtube search or any civil liberties site will show many more. Are these people rioting? You do not know what you're talking about.

I do know what I'm talking about, and it is perfectly legal to peaceably assemble, demonstrate, march, carry signs, etc. in Canada.

And, I never said everyone at the demonstrations around the G20 were rioting. However, there was rioting.

Like I said, perfectly legal if it is state sanctioned and ineffective.

going to the government and making a request to "protest" getting access to the proper "protest area". Filling out the appropriate forms etc. Basically informing the city when and where the "protest" will take place and getting the proper permission. I have been to "protests" like that many times, even had police escorts at a few. Other protests I've been to, not state sanctioned, are more often than not interupted by pigs with a request to leave the area, and arrest if the area is not left.
