American Dad

Do any of you know this show (animated)? Brilliant writing. It took me a few episodes to get into it, but it really is very very smart and funny. Just heard this one from one of the characters (Roger, the Alien): "Oh, I love your religion. Craaazay! Virgin birth, water into wine… It's..it's like Harry Potter but it causes genocide and bad folk music."

That episode, by the way (I'll have to find the name of it), is all about the Rapture. It's one of the best things I've seen on television poking fun at the inanities of Christianity. Better and more pointed than South Park, IMO.
I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

Actually, no tv here, either. But you can find it on the internet. iTunes has it, for example.

The Pope was today knocked down at the start of Christmas mass by a woman who hopped over the barriers. The woman was said to be, "Mentally unstable."

Which is probably why she went unnoticed among a crowd of Christians.

It's written by Seth Macfarlane, the same guy who invented Family Guy, whereas Family Guy has started to become a bit samey, American Dad is funny as hell pretty consistently.

If anyone hasn't seen it, definitely check it out :woot:
