Re: Simple mafia 1; day 3
I think I have learnt my lesson, though. Both in the lolcat mafia, and this game my gut feelings have gotten me exactly nowhere. I think it safe to say that if I just go by hunches it will have more or less the same effect as randomly chosing a name and going for that person.

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

Also If i'm town then the scum would know this.
Can anyone give me advice on how would they react to my 'loose cannon' behaviour.

I'm utterly bewildered but enthralled.
Also how is an SK blocked by a wild card?
Can the GM make up any type of wildcard? or are there predefined rules?
Like could he roll a dice and kill based on the throw? etc
do GMs have to tell players beforehand?

Re: Simple mafia 1; day 3
GMs don't have to tell players anything more than their own role, and who their team mates are if they're scum, this being simple mafia there probably aren't any exotic specials, hopefully we have a doctor and a seer, and by the looks of it there is either a vigilante or Serial killer.colubridae wrote:ok going with you guys.Uselesstwit wrote:wow normal, what a nice collection of scum tells you have there.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

What in christ's name is a doctor and a seer?
Can they bring back to life?
Do they have inside info on scum?

Re: Simple mafia 1; day 3
a doctor will protect one innocent a night from being killed, usually they can't protect the same person two nights in a row. A seer can view people and determine if they are guilty or innocent.

Re: Simple mafia 1; day 3
A seer can determine another player's alignment each night.
A doctor can protect one player each night from being whacked.
Typically, anyway.
In the past games designed by J.A. and Oblivion vigilantes have been able to kill every night, so a one shot vigilante is unlikely. It is possible that there is a SK + doctor, with the doctor saving their first night target, vigi + doctor, same scenario, or that both scum and the vigi/sk went after higgs on the first night.
Given it's simple mafia, I doubt there's any special besides doc/seer/vigi/sk.

basically the odds are in favour of the scum. The only advantage town has is in numbers?virphen wrote:A seer can determine another player's alignment each night.

Yes, essentially, It's a game of a small group with most of the information against a large group with bugger all info.colubridae wrote: basically the odds are in favour of the scum. The only advantage town has is in numbers?

Well now as I don't trust Ani's 'feelings' and I think Blip has twisted the exchange that happened between Ani and I about voting for Normal (check what was said yourselves). The Stabbing during the night has clouded the issue a little So I think I will vote for some one quiet .....or Very noisy !

Twinkie is in Oz, and is hardly online in the evenings, ever. So you'd only expect the odd post early in each day round from her, which is exactly what we're getting. Nothing suspect in that.Feck wrote: also FOS at Twinkie , Just never here ...

Ok, I just type what I think, and it seems to get my lynched. But it's just a game, so that's ok. Tomorrow when you see I'm town you should start looking for the real scum tells. I'm not good at looking for them, but I'll do this:
