Whyalla still has the lookout and cannons which were installed on Hummock Hill to protect the steelworks and shipyard at the time.

The picture of the bomb crater that used to be the post office - when I lived in Darwin for 6 years I worked in a building diagonally across the road from that site.
Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

By area, most of Australia is uninhabited desert, or cattle and sheep stations. However, by population most Australians live in the few capital cities. It is one of the most urbanised countries in the world.Gawdzilla wrote:The War Illustrated has a full page article on how most Australians live in cities.Faithfree wrote:The picture of the bomb crater that used to be the post office - when I lived in Darwin for 6 years I worked in a building diagonally across the road from that site.![]()

I always found it amusing that you could get quite a sizeable force in to Australian Waters unnoticed simply by picking the right area and timing it right.
Not quite sure if that still applies in more recent years.... still.

You lot are the idiots who keep letting us export it.
All the beer we export allows us to import the German stuff.
