The scum in this game have played a blinder.
They have. They must be very good players. Some thoughts from me...

Blip: you must make what you will of my play but I have tried to put information and clarity into the arena, while explaining my thinking for my votes. I have never hidden my online status.

Magicziggy: doesn’t hide her online status, so far as I can tell, and was re-reading the game for some time this morning. I was interested by an observation from Useless, at Fri 2.41pm UK time (Day 5) ‘So people are thinking that magicziggy is innocent and just the worst guesser in the world? What you're saying is that scum wouldn't be so obvious about getting on a bandwagon they knew were innocent every day. For now I guess I can go with that, 100% innocent lynch rate probably is more likely from a new innocent than a new scum.’

Uselesstwit: has been comparatively quiet and used the same argument for lynching Timinane that DP used for lynching Meph at 8.42pm Thursday UK time (day 4), i.e. that an absent town player is a liability. I can’t say that I disagree with that, though.

Animavore: well, we’ve got the vendettas, the accusations and the chat, but that’s Ani’s style so I’m discounting them either way. BAA did put that vote on Ani on day two plus DP and BAA were rather going for him on the same day. Was this an elaborate ploy? There is the argument I put forward before, but if Ani and DP are both guilty, that argument is undermined somewhat. Ani does not hide his online status, as far as I can tell. He and Oblivion are flinging mud latterly. On the other hand, if there were four of them to start as MagicZiggy suspects...

Oblivion: probably the most experienced player in the game, and totally committed to it (up at 3am still posting on one occasion) if she’s town she’s shown surprisingly bad judgement in her votes. Her observations on mafia in general have actually done nothing whatsoever for town. Plus she published a FOS list at 10.20am Friday (UK time) (Day 5) with at least four and, I believe, five town players on it (Witti, Redial, Sifaka, Timinane and Magicziggy) But what interests me most is that when dOt joined, Oblivion said that she thought dOt might be scum. We already knew dOt was replacing a vanilla innocent, as Redial had said so when bowing out. Now, dOt joined Ratz specifically in order to make up the numbers and is clearly a highly experienced player, known to J.A.P and Oblivion: dOt was whacked that same night. Oblivion often hides her online status (she’s posted when she’s not showing online).

Does anyone have any comments on these observations?

In you I trust. The psychology of the mob is not to be fathomed easily. I have no experience in reading voting patterns and timing. This will come.
My own view on voting is that scum must land some votes on each other to look credible. They know they won't all be there at the end.

I'll post this but keep going.

Does anyone happen to know if Twinkie is an experienced mafia player?

Yes, definitely. And especially if one of them is about to go down in an avalanche: they throw them under.

On Oblivion, as a committed player, she works as hard in offence as defence. She deserves credit but I believe is playing to a gamplan that involves Ani. It is a vote splitter. Ani or DP, Ani or Oblivion. It always gives scum a chance if they can split the vote at the death.

I'll will be up as usual at 6am and can check in before nightfall (6:30am). (I'm a he by the way)

I hang around for a bit.

No, to anything about anything to do with experience.

Man, I wish I hadn't bothered to log in and read this.

Yes I am an experienced player. But I have very little experience playing with the people at ratz. I've played one game, and I've GMed two games. In this game, I've discovered that the conventions of mafia and scum hunting that I am familiar with don't work here because of a whole lot of local idiosyncracies. I'm going to have to retool some assumptions if I play again.

I woke up so I could call in sick.I'm sorry guys, I don't even know where to start in defending aganst such a bizarre concatenation of observations. Some of them are true. I don't see how they're scummy, though.

But, I will point out that it's a common ruse when a player has to quit to claim to be town, so that their replacement gets an easy start. I was suspicious of Redial. I lynch voted her twice, then backed off when I learned she was in a lot of pain and on meds. A new player entering the game late that way is really tough, though. Especially when you've had doubts about the player they are replacing. Obviously d0t worried scum, though, and I doubt they would call attention to that in the game thread.

Anyway, after day 7 ended I reread it a couple times and it struck me that Ani went straight after me once the vote was settled. In hindsight it looks like a set-up attempt. If it works, hat-tip to you and the rest of the scum team, Ani.

Sorry for misassigning your gender. Perhaps it was your avatar that pre-conditioned me.

Thanks. Stomach viruses suck.

Good luck guys. I'm not sure I'll be back before nightfall but I'll try.

I guess it's important to Oblivion that she still be seen to be on our side. I know she's reading this.
What have we got on Useless?

You've improved quite a bit over the course of this game. The main thing that threw me for a loop in your later play was the way you (and Blip) disregarded Sifaka's outing and vote on DP. It completely overturned my impression of who was town and who wasn't. If Sifaka hadn't cleared you both yesterday, I'd be in a swirl today.

A lot of talk has been around scum "tells" ie giveaways. My own posts have been littered with them apparently, but now everyone agrees its just inexperience. I didn't even know about all these special roles until Sifaka popped up. How do you read Oblivion's call to protect you "tonight" or "tomorrow"?
