"The fool hath said in his heart..."

Post by Epictetus » Sun May 23, 2010 3:38 pm

I’ve got an idea. Let’s start a forum/blog centered around the idea that there are no fairies. We’ll call ourselves a-fairyists and discuss the many ramifications of not believing in fairies --how it affects our morals, our politics, etc. Undoubtedly Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot committed mass murder in the name of a-fairyism. Abortion, homosexuality, sexual promiscuity, evolution and plate tectonics, drug addiction, and that damn rock-and-roll music are all the result of a-fairyism. The iconoclastic philosopher Frederick Nietzsche observed that “fairies are dead.“ And Black Sabbath proclaimed that “Fairies Wear Boots”. But the downside to this, as Dostoevsky keenly observed in his Brother‘s Karamazov, is that “Without a belief in fairies all things are permissible.” And, as the great Voltaire wittily remarked: “If fairies did not exist it would be necessary to invent them”. Moreover, the Holy Drivel says in Psalm 14:1 (so you know it must be true): “The fool hath said in his heart, ‘There are no fairies’.”

But Fairies do wear boots.
Ya gotta believe me.
I saw it, I saw it with my own two eyes.

Yeah.

Fairies don't exist. Poppycock. I've caught some.
