When you say "miss" what do you mean exactly?

The sense of wonder and awe these films inspired when I first saw them (and in subsequent watchings) hasn't been repeated by anything I've seen in the past few years.

Just keep watching the old stuff then.

You're not old enough to say "I miss films like these". I'm not even old enough to say that. If I say "I miss films like these" I'm generally referring to T2 and Die Hard.

Nonsense. You are never too young to be a grumpy old fart!

I hate 3-D. Avatar was better when I watched it in 2-D on my television than when I saw it in 3-D in the theaters, bulky glasses, discoloration, tunnel vision and all.

I'm planning to take my 5-yr old to see the new Shrek movie coming out this weekend. But I'm not going unless I can find one in 2-D. No way I'm asking her to sit with those glasses on for two hours.

You are to young to say you miss films before your time. The Matrix would've been more apt.

The Matrix? Are you fucking kidding me?

:nono:

Just because a film was made before my time it doesn't mean I can't be amazed and entranced by it, nor that no film I've seen has ever come close to having that same effect.

Did I say that? I'm saying that saying "I miss films like these" when you weren't around for them is logically absurd. You could say "Why don't they make films like these anymore?" But not that you miss them. That's like saying "I miss the '60s"

No, saying "I miss films like these" is like saying "I miss films that have an impact on me" not "I miss films from the 70's set in the West"

Maybe in reverse land.
And films that have impact are still made anyway. Better ones than Westrens, the lowest of genres after horror.
Of course you won't find them in Hollywood.
