Re: Scum thread
Every day we get town lynched we're that much closer to a win. We need to start thinking about which players we want around at endgame. Good candidates are players who don't post much, players who aren't analytical, players who are relatively new and inexperienced, and players who aren't cleared. Once specials start outing and the seer outs his/her views, the lynch candidates are going to shrink. That could happen tomorrow if town begins to panic about not having caught any scum yet.
We'll probably start tomorrow with 12 remaining town players (assuming there isn't an indie or traitor in the game).
If we can get it down to 10-4 by day 4, we'll have a great chance for a win, but even if one of us is lynched tomorrow, we'll still have a very decent chance.

Re: Scum thread
What are the chances of there being a bodyguard in this game? Vir would be the most likely to currently have his protection if there is one.

bodyguards come in different flavors.Uselesstwit wrote:What are the chances of there being a bodyguard in this game? Vir would be the most likely to currently have his protection if there is one.
The most likely town protective role is a doctor: http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Doctor
If there is a doctor, he/she probably can't protect the same player 2 nights in a row. I don't know what the usual conventions for protection are at ratz. Does the mayor usually get protected on night 1 or 2?
the bodyguard role works in different ways. Sometimes the bodyguard substitutes for the protected player, and will be killed in the players place. Sometimes the bodyguard will kill his killer. It's possible this is the variant in this game, since we didn't see a vig kill last night. it would be a little odd for town not to have at least a one-time killing role.

Hmm.

If you lot have killed me, I will be very angry.

Its not too late to change our minds.born-again-atheist wrote:If you lot have killed me, I will be very angry.
I would like to know, though, how the protection role is usually used in ratz games. Protecting the mayor on night 1 or 2 is fairly common in some game environments. In the games I GMed here at ratz:
Dune
Virphen was a jailor - both protected and prevented night actions. Sifaka was the mayor
Night 1 - protected irreligionist
Night 2 - protected 95Theses (an outed special)
He was killed on night 2.
Lolcats
Twinkie was the doc. protection only.Witticism was the mayor
Night 1 - protected twinkie
Night 2 - protected ghat (was scum)
Night 3 - protected Feck (who outed as seer on day 3)
Night 4 - protected twinkie
Night 5 - protected Normal (who was an outed mason)
I don't know how representative these two games were, but neither of these two players tried to protect the mayor. So, the question is - did anyone besides me pick up his hint that he's a special of some sort?

Re: Scum thread
I saw he implied something, just didn't know what. I'm also thinking the number of special roles might be limited since there are so very few of us. at least it seems like 16:4 is a little lopsided, but I've only watched the last ratskep game and it was very different from this one.

Re: Scum thread
4:1 is not an unusual balance, and it does suggest that town isn't special-heavy, or that some of the town players are net negative (lovers, paranoid gun owner, miller, etc.)Uselesstwit wrote:I saw he implied something, just didn't know what. Still, I kinda think this is a fairly vanilla game, so my guess is there are few specials and *possibly* a traitor.

Assholes.

Re: Scum thread
Shit.
At least we got another innocent and none of us are in the limelight today. I'm going to wait until 7 or 8 this evening to vote, same as yesterday, and probably for whoever is leading the count at the time. Or maybe refrain from voting after saying there is no evidence unless someone comes up with a case for one of the innocents.

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.

Ouch, sorry BornAA. But way to take down a special and the mayor.

Re: Scum thread
Twinkie is both quiet and aggressive. I keep coming back to her as a possible special.
higgs2 is playing like she's vanilla town, and all the scum tells that town players keep dropping have her barking up the wrong trees for now.
Any thoughts on other players who are potentially specials or who are otherwise dangerous to us?

I still feel really bad about taking Virphen's bait. But, we were almost certain to eventually target him if town didn't lynch him. And I doubt town would have lynched him. Given that, it's probably better we took the hit early than later in the game.DP wrote:Shit.

You guys, don't vote for Redial. If she winds up the lynch, let's not implicate more than one of us. I'll probably be safe as the person who started the bandwagon, but you never know how people will reason things out.
