Further Exemptions for the Rich

Post by Trolldor » Sat May 15, 2010 3:10 pm

Speeding? No biggie.
When the first speeding fine arrives in a company's mail, it is put aside. It contains a request to fill in a statutory declaration nominating the driver. This form is ignored (nothing in writing, the genius of the scheme).

So are the next three letters: the reminder, the warning and the enforcement notice with a $50 late-payment penalty. Only when the fifth letter arrives - with a $1069 fine for failing to nominate the driver, but zero demerit points - does the company respond by paying this penalty.

It follows by paying the original speeding fine and any enforcement penalties. Expensive, but the driver loses no points.

The deterrent for this practice was lifted last month. The court-imposed penalty for failing to nominate a driver was doubled to $5500 for an individual and $11,000 for a company.

I clicked on a link from the link you provided. It's a preview of a new Porsche 911 variant. The about to be released GT2 RS is capable of doing 330km/h and can go from 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds.
