Re: The UK election thread
My politics myth of the week (other than the unelected Prime Minister nonsense)?
It has to be: "forming a strong and stable government in the national interest". It's bullshit on two counts.
1. There is no "national interest", individuals have their own interests.
2. The is no possible coalition, or otherwise, that will be stable. Lib/Lab don't have the numbers, Lib/Con don't agree on any policies and Tory minority would get nothing through parliament.

From what i have observed it's Lib-Lab that has no chance of forming a government.. it seems a Lib-Con coalition is likely. A lot of labour people have started to speak out about how they DO NOT want a coalition which seems to me to be an indication of what is about to happen..

No deal.. it's pretty obvious. All day a lot of labour MPs have been spouting off that there could be no workable deal with other parties and that Labour should accept defeat etc.
It's been trickling out bit by bit all day.
Apparently Labour didn't offer any deal with the lib dems just offered their manifesto the tories have actually made concessions.
Bookmakers have stopped taking bets on the new UK government and 10 Downing Street has luggage being taken out the back

Re: The UK election thread
Apparently the Lib Dems are meeting tonight (19:30) to vote on the coalition deal. They need 75% of their 57 MPs to agree and 75% of the Federal Executive.
