Hmmm

Not sure your logic, although reasonable, is the whole story. In a PR environment all votes will count. It is conceivable that people who currently would not vote BNP, because it is a wasted ,may well do so in a PR system as it would lead to a public voice and some limited measure of respectability for their views. It's the way Hitler made it into power after all.
No, I think people who really want the BNP to have some sort of power, would vote for them anyway. Why would they vote Lib Dems or Labour?
Also, at the thought of BNP getting power, more people would vote against them, and MP's in the top parties would have to do more to win support off the voter.
We are contantly bombarded with Daily Fail articles about immigration, Islam and spongers. That wins the BNP votes, so if the present gov.com is seen as doing something about it....?

One can't vote against anybody only for somebody. And I think you just contradicted yourself by saying that is people were going to vote BNP they would do so whatever the method FPTP or PR?

Tactical voting? I voted Lib Dems this time to try to prevent Tories and Labour gaining overall power. Maybe now they'll listen to what the people want.

If the gov.com done more to win the public over, then the papers would have less to report and the BNP would have fewer voters.
For example... Abu "The Hook" Hamza. Just fuck him off to the states where they want him. Don't pay for his trial when he can afford to buy a £250,000 home in cash!... With tax-payers money!

Do you think the sort of person who votes BNP has the brains to vote tactically? I'm not sure. But until we get the rules for how the seats will be allocated it's all rather academic.

The papers will be complaining about something no matter what the government does, because that's what sells papers, bad news is good news for them.
In fact the papers will even make stuff up (strait bananas, anyone?) just to complain about something.

You shouldn't believe either on face value.

This just in:

Gordon Brown 'stepping down as Labour leader'
Gordon Brown has said he is stepping down as Labour Party leader.
Mr Brown, prime minister since 2007, said he wanted a successor to be in place by the time of the party's conference in September.
Mr Brown announced his intention to quit in a statement in Downing St in which he also said his party was to start formal talks with the Lib Dems.

Saw it on BBC News when it broke. I think a Lib/Lab pact is edging closer.
I think they'll be very unpopular in the right wing press, and will divide the nation, but will be good for the country in the long run.

They still won't have a majority. Nobody knows who the next PM would be (and he/she would be unelected) and both parties got fewer votes than the Tories. Not a happy recipe.
David Miliband anyone.........?
One I prefer to a Conservative coalition however!
