Liberals and Conservatives Reference Chart

Post by Tails Turrosaki » Sun May 09, 2010 7:34 pm

LIberals and conservatives are always at each other's throats from what I observe.

Frankly, I don't understand, and I don't consider myself either. I just like change and improvement, not tradition.

So, if you would mind stating whether you're liberal or conservative, and saying why you are so, and politely debate your stances, then this thread will go just fine. Refer to the attachment.

Is there a bigger version of the chart, you can't read all the words?

Well, obviously you don't have to tick every box on that chart, but I can see I agree with the red side more. (and it is red, btw, americans, why must you always be difficult?)

The American right are bananas. On the one hand they want smaller government, economic freedom and individual liberty, and on the other hand they want everyone to follow traditional values, not allow gays to get married and force religion upon people. Talk about your complete contradictions.

Not to mention the fact that they use "liberal" as a scare word even though, they are themselves, classical liberalists.

Now, now, don't stereotype. Most Americans I know are pro-gay.

Neither.

I quite like change as much as I like tradition, it depends on the circumstances. What are we protecting and what are we changing?

The wording seems a little biased to me; and word choice is quite influential in these things.

Personally, I refuse to join either side, and prefer to go by my own little delusions rather than someone else's ;)

Almost everything on the left seems better.

They had me at "community based on ethics" as opposed to "morals".

That hangs his heid and a' that
The coward slave, we pass him by
We dare be puir for a' that.

I thought this was going to be about the UK post-election talks. :lay:

Wait... so you want the staff to say "I hope to see you again soon." after being treated for a life-threatening injury?

I'm a rational anarchist. Where does that fit on your chart?

The world is a thing of utter inordinate complexity and richness and strangeness that is absolutely awesome. I mean the idea that such complexity can arise not only out of such simplicity, but probably absolutely out of nothing, is the most fabulous extraordinary idea. And once you get some kind of inkling of how that might have happened, it's just wonderful. And . . . the opportunity to spend 70 or 80 years of your life in such a universe is time well spent as far as I am concerned.
