Cleggo should think twice about climbing into bed with the Tories as he may not like the other hangers on he finds there. You know, rabid homophobes, the religious right, East European fascists.....

He said from the start that he'd end up coming out with whoever of the others got the most votes.

Judging by the reaction on the facebook announcement, it seems people thought that that meant he'd only do it with labour :pop: Stupid elections.

They only started at 9am. Some won't be done until 3pm.

Clegg might have no real intention of getting into bed with Cameron. :euphemism: Once he's established that the parties don't have enough common ground, he could then let the Tories try and form a government without the Lib Dems - which would be very difficult. Then the next "obvious" option would be Labour+Lib Dem, which might by then be the only valid option.

And you have to factor in local council elections, mayoral elections in some places, tea-breaks, paper cuts, etc etc.

I can't really go through university without demonstrating at least once can I? :ask: That would be a travesty.

Some Guy on Facebook:
The election has produced another outrageous result with a massive mismatch between votes and seats. Our voices have been silenced.

- Millions of votes have been wasted.

- People have been turned away from polling stations.

No matter what the colour of your political stripes, the current system is a democratic travesty an...d can’t continue.

>> Gather Saturday 2pm May 8th in reaction to the election result in Trafalgar Square to demand reform and a fair voting system.

This must be the last election under our broken system.

Join the campaign to Take Back Parliament!
http://www.takebackparliament.com/

Meet at 2pm in Trafalgar Square, wear purple - the traditional colour of campaigns for the suffrage who throughout the years have struggled to deepen democracy. Now it's our turn!

>> Invite your friends to attend the rally in reaction to the result - if enough of us get involved the demand for change will be irresistible!

The people need to be at the head of any initiative for democratic reform. We must decide what proposals should be considered to change the voting system through a Citizens Convention, and we must be allowed to decide whether to adopt them in a referendum. No more stitch ups!

*************
THE POLICE HAVE DENIED US PERMISSION TO PROTEST IN PARLIAMENT SQUARE, THE CLEAREST POSSIBLE PROOF THAT THIS IS NOT OUR PARLIAMENT. INSTEAD WE'LL MEET IN TRAFALGAR SQUARE AT 14:00 AND TAKE THINGS FROM THERE

I have no idea.. but the thought of Brown in No 10 for another term makea me want to cry. The man has NEVER been elected to power how on earth can he remain there?
You could always get Labour in, but Brown out, under some anti-tory coalition deal.

I am surprised to hear you say that. American elections seem to me to be on a massive scale compared to our little amateurish efforts. I am also often touched by the naive faith a lot of Americans seem to have in the democratic process..and I don't mean to be insulting when I say that.
I think it's natural to find a system with which we are not as familiar a bit more interesting. I also think the American system may be more "massive" because of the size of the country, and the fact that we not only vote for Senators and Congressmen, but also the President directly.

I don't think most Americans have a lot of faith in the democratic process. I get the sense that overwhelmingly people just see it as better than the alternatives.

The problem is, Labour stood for election with GB as its leader. It would be "undemocratic" for him to now step down and be replaced by someone else for whom the public did not get a chance to vote for as leader of the Labour party. Another catch-22 ...
