Good for them.RuleBritannia wrote:In Sheffield, protesters are preventing the ballot boxes from leaving because they weren't allowed to vote.

Re: The UK election thread
That was my immediate thought. Maybe it was the weather, or the general mood or whatever... but something made lots of people turn up late. Well tough shit. They could have voted in the morning, or on the way home from work. They didn't need to leave it until 7 or 8, leading to long queues.klr wrote:A part of me says that you should never, ever do that. Re: The UK election thread
It's stuff like people queueing since 5:30 in the afternoon, and local residents arriving later being put in a preferential fast track queue. If you show up almost 5 hours before it closes, I'd assume that you'd expect to be able to vote.Pappa wrote:That was my immediate thought. What will it mean if the Tories get a majority without winning a single seat in Scotland?

Re: The UK election thread
Tories got the vale Pap. I bet you are ecstatic

Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

It's all over BBC that the conservatives are making huge gains. This is good, right?

Re: The UK election thread
Gisela Stuart (Labour=Edgbaston) kept hold of her seat here. Not suprising, considering all the spongers that live around here. They're not gonna bite the hand that feeds them.
And I got up just in time to see Jacqui Spliff lose her seat in Bromsgrove

Charles Clarke and Jacqui Smith have both been scalped. ![[icon_drunk.gif] :drunk:](./images/smilies/icon_drunk.gif)
Lembit Öpik somehow lost a 7000-vote majority, to the Conservatives, in Wales. WTF!

Re: The UK election thread
Looks like the conservatives will have around 1% more than Labour did at the last election - at around 37 - 8%. They *could* form a wobbly government on that basis, but there is something wrong with a party forming the government when 2/3 of the votes went to other parties. Dead wrong.
