O.k., red flag number one....when someone making an assertion doesn't spell anything out, they just point "over there..."
But, I will pick the first five (5) likes that come up (not sure of a better way to "take my pick" in this case):
number 1:
What's the lie here? His chum didn't ask him that? He doesn't believe in "new labour?" Not sure what the deal is here....Just after the election, an old colleague of mine said: 'Come on Tony, now we've won again can't we drop all this New Labour and do what we believe in?' "I said, 'It's worse than you think - I really do believe in it'."
number 2:
Sounds like an expression of an opinion, and seems roughly correct. Not sure what the context was, but it does not appear to be a "lie," anyway."If you engage in the systematic and gross abuse of human rights in defiance of the UN charter, you cannot expect to enjoy the same privileges as those that conform to it."
number 3:
That sounds like an expression of opinion. Others may disagree, but it's not a "lie.""The US choice to go through the UN over Iraq was a vital step, in itself and as a symbol of the desire to work with others."
number 4:
Hmmm...another statement of opinion. He says Africa is a scar on the conscience of the world. You or others may disagree with him and allege that it is not a scar on the conscience of the world, but that's neither is a lie. Also, if the world community focused on it, he may be wrong that the world could heal it. But, is his opinion that we could heal it a "lie?" No."The state of Africa is a scar on the conscience of the world... but if the world as a community focused on it, we could heal it. And if we don't, it will become deeper and angrier."
number 5:
That doesn't sound like anything other than an inspirational statement or his opinion. Maybe now is the moment to make our future as exciting in impact as our history. Maybe some people think it isn't. Neither are lying unless they are falsely representing what their own opinion is, and they really don't think that now is the time for that."Now is the moment to make our future as exciting in impact, if different in character, as our history."
For good measure, I'll keep clicking...
number 6:
Well, he thinks we would have destroyed a threat that in its least is responsible for inhuman carnage and suffering. Hussein was responsible for inhuman carnage and suffering, and we destroyed him. I'm not sure where that was a "lie." And, he is saying that he is confident that history will forgive him -that's his opinion. Maybe it won't, but it's an opinion. Nobody knows, yet."Let us say one thing: If we are wrong, we will have destroyed a threat that at its least is responsible for inhuman carnage and suffering. That is something I am confident history will forgive."
number 7:
O.k.....no lie there. That's a command, not a statement of fact."Give just as much to our country as we intend to give. Give your all. Make this the giving age."
O.k....look...I can keep going on and on with this, but so far on a website where I could "take my pick" there isn't even one "lie" there. I mean the primary definition of "lie" is "a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth." So, does anyone have an example of an intentional untruth or a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive?
Sometimes I think that when some people use the word "lie" or "liar" what they really mean is that they hate the person they are accusing of being a liar, or they disagree with that person's opinions very strongly.
I'm genuinely curious. What are the lies. If they are legion, then surely some clear examples must be readily available.

Fucking whore. Fucking piece of shit whore. When I think how much suffering he's caused to millions already, well he's in the top three of people I most abhor.
Shit down his throat I say.
I loathe the man too. What a two-faced twat. Wooist übercunt. :pissed:
Funny how he spent his entire tenure as PM pretending not to be a catholic.
This is some tragi-comedy shit.![]()

I'm sensing that people have some misgivings about T. Blair.Fuck it, there's a whole site here. Take your pick.

It would seem so.colubridae wrote:

I have never lived in England. I'm familiar with the system over there, and I know what a PM's job is. I am reasonably well versed in what Blair's foreign policy tendencies were, but I'm not too knowledgeable about what the basic planks of the Labour platform are, so I'm not sure if I would support Labour if I were an Englishman.
That being said, my perception of Tony Blair, based on having seen him on Question and Answer sessions of Parliament, having listened to his public speeches quite often, having watched him testify before the Iraq War investigation committee or commission earlier this year, and otherwise is that he is a very good speaker, makes very clear points and comes across as very competent, sincere and passionate about his views. He was always quite favorably disposed toward the United States, which I liked, considering I'm an American. I tend to like it when other countries are in our camp. Those that want to blow us up, not quite as much. I can't say I support the guy's politics. People tell me that Labour is more closely aligned with what a Democrat would be in the US (although farther left than the Democrats) and the Tories or Conservative party in England would be more like the Republicans, only they two would be farther left).
Having said that, I have heard many times people accuse him of all these "lies." I'm curious, though, what he lied about.
Seems like he was quite the rabble-rouser back in the day though....

Fair enough - but, may I ask why you characterize him in that manner? What has he said or done that makes you consider him a cunt?Tigger wrote:He is a cunt.

I'm more concerned with the "liar" part of the thread though. Hoping someone will identify some lies. There should be some doozies out there, considering how vehement people are about it.

Oh fucking hell. I'm probably not the best person to give a rational/erudite view, and I'm now more concerned about the antics of his successor. If you don't get any joy from anyone else, come back to me and I'll cobble something together involving the government policies he oversaw involving education, health, Iraq, tax, Europe and sucking up to that monumental fuckwad Bush to mention a couple.Coito ergo sum wrote:Fair enough - but, may I ask why you characterize him in that manner? No worries. I am more interested in the "lies" part anyway. We all think one politician or another is a cunt, and we're probably all right.Tigger wrote:

Blair always comes across as a bumbling idiot to me. His public speaking is awful and sounds really bad. Gordon Brown (puss be upon him) speaks much better. Though he is also a cunt.

He said he prayed for advice from God before he decided to send the troops into Iraq ..... Funny that because he had already signed up sending the troops in months before .
