Muslim extremists threaten South Park creators

You know, this stuff really pisses me off.

I think that every time a threat like this is made, media outlets should join forces and publish more images of Muhammed, with the message "if you threaten us, we do it more."

There haven't been any threats. Islam is a peacefull religion. :ele:

Interestingly, the muslims website is closed down. Anyone up for posting comments on their YouTube account?

I feel a bit meh about this. It is just a website after all. I've seen death threats on youtube videos and blogs.. especially towards famous people. How many sites are there calling for the death of Muslims? I'd imagine a metric fuck-tonne.

Incitement to violence is a tricky tightrope of a law.. it's good to have it there for when people are just taking the piss, but it seems really open to bias.

That is quality south park

Release the Kikan :funny:
Outside the ordered universe is that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes.

If so, they should be easy enough to find. Do you know any where specific individual Muslims' lives are threatened, particularly Muslim authors, filmmakers, cartoonists, and politicians? I don't think it's going to be too easy to find a lot of serious threats going the other way. We know the Muslims can be quite serious about this - just ask Theo Van Gogh (well, you can't ask him, he was stabbed multiple times and left to die in the street like a dog), but you can ask Salman Rushdie and Ayaan Hirsi Ali what its like to be driven underground and have to hire special private protection outfits to keep Muslims from killing you, and ask the Swedish cartoonist whose house was broken into a couple months ago by a knife-weilding Muslim out for vengeance on behalf of his false god and prophet.

Agreed. But, we're not in the realm of "incitement to violence." We're in the realm of direct threats to individuals, and subornation of murder - they tow the line pretty closely, since they say "we're not saying we want to kill him ourselves, we just want to warn him of what might happen to him." It's a lot like the gangster who comes into the local bar and asks for payment, because "...we just want to warn you that something might happen to you...." You are right that they probably haven't done anything which, at least not in the US, they could be arrested for, but they are awfully close, and they are a good ways beyond mere "incitement to violence."

Incitement to violence comes up when people say disrespectful things about a race or religion in general, and some modern laws are suggesting that these types of statements incite other people to commit bad acts. Incitement to violence is more like the Geert Wilders case, where people say he was "inciting" others by his anti-immigrant, anti-Muslim and arguably anti-Moroccan statements.

That's the way I see it. It's like a mafia mentality.

What the news report quoted from the website did not sound like direct threats to me. It sounded like small people trying to threaten with their absent big mates ie - "My cousin is a boxer so you'd better watch out if he hears about this".

I'm not saying that Muslim groups are not dangerous and should not be taken to task for shit like this, but I am saying that if the police are expected to start taking threats on the internet seriously, they had better start building new cells and cancel their holidays, they could start with a few people on this forum according to recent past.

The violent messages were posted on the site revolutionmuslim.com by Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, who stated that the episode had "outright insulted" Muhammad. He declared, "We have to warn Matt (Stone) and Trey (Parker) that what they are doing is stupid, and they will probably wind up like Theo van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them."

Theo Van Gogh was butchered in the street by a Muslim. Graphic images depicting the mutilated body of Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh were posted who was murdered in Amsterdam by Mohammed Bouyeri, an Islamist fanatic, in November 2004 for addressing the abuse of women in some Muslim societies in a short documentary he made. Over van Gogh's body is the caption "Theo van Gogh, after he was sent to Hell.

Younus Abdullah Muhammad, the self-proclaimed leader of Revolution Muslims, declared that the sharia law permits the killing of anyone who humiliates or mocks the prophet. “If it happens to them, they deserve it,” said Mr. Muhammad. “South Park plays a role in the hedonistic, vice-based society that keeps America ignorant.”

You are correct that they can't get arrested just for that, not in the United States anyway. But, given the history of how veiled threats have materialized in similar cases in the past and how Muslim groups are driving people underground, it is certainly cause for investigation. There is nothing wrong with the police getting a warrant to search their offices and computers, and see if there is anything going on.

What should happen, in my opinion, after one of these veiled threats is that every major news outlet should air the images and replay them, and then state "we defend our right to free speech, and you will not spread your tyranny to our lands. You cannot kill us all." It's time to draw the line against these fascist pigs: this far, and no further. :lay:

Tell Theo Van Gogh or Ayaan Airsi Ali that these threats aren't serious. Why did Salman Rushdie hide for years? For a publicity stunt? We're not just talking about people who got pissed because there were insulted, they believe their god was insulted and they are commanded to carry out his vengeance.

I hope law enforcement isn't as dismissive about threats to violence as you are.

President Bush didn't take threats from Al-Qaeda seriously and 9/11 happened.
