Why single out McDonalds? Why not ban ALL advertising on children's TV channels and on mainstream channels during children's programs. After all, all of the companies deny that they are trying to directly influence children.

I clicked on the link, and the only alleged "reason" is "Ronald continues to build his popularity and "...no longer content just to interact with children when they visit McDonald’s. He has become involved in every aspect of childhood, with appearances in some of the most unlikely places – from schools to hospitals."

I would suggest that he was never content just to interact with children when they visit McDonalds. From day one, he and Mayor McCheese, Grimace, the Hamburgler, etc. were advertised in magazines, television advertising, and on billboards, etc.

But, ok, I will not dispute that you find that to be a reason to ban Ronald. What I am wondering, though, is what are some of the other "many" reasons?

I'm tiring of this argument, not because you are boring Coito but because we have deep idealogical differences about this and you are not going to convince me otherwise, or, I think vice versa. So, after a while the arguments are about as interesting to me as arguing about whether god exists or not. Feel free to accuse me of being wooish or not basing my beliefs about this subject on your ideas of reason - I won't be offended. I think I, and many others have offered some good reasonable arguments that are enough to convince me to support this kind of action, which I will do.

In the meantime I thank you for bringing this subject to my attention, it most certainly is an interesting and worthy one.

You don't lose your right to free speech because you band together with other people either as a non-profit or for profit partnership, corporation, limited liability company, professional association or other entity. If Moveon.org has freedom of expression, so does McDonald's.
