Kyrgyzstan has fallen!

Post by Bruce Burleson » Wed Apr 07, 2010 8:34 pm

Well, at least there are reports that the president has been driven from office by protests.

But "Kyrgyzstan has fallen!" has a nice ring to it.... if I only knew how to pronounce it, that is.

"Cur-ghee-stan"

Watching the footage reminds me of all the political uprisings of the 1980s. Maybe that's just because of the picture quality of the footage. From a cursory glance it looks justified to me. Most uprisings from the people are. Good to see some people on the planet standing up for themselves.

Thanks for the pronunciation guide, Red Fox. Have you ever been there or to any other central Asian nation?

Unfortunately not. I plan on getting a fair amount of travelling done over the next few years and a tour of Asia is on the list of things to do.
