Maybe it's because the basics of her philosophy are not particularly crazy
Or maybe it is because the test is being administered on an objectivist website, and the objective (no pun intended) of the test is to figure out how to defeat its goal of placing Rand high in the rankings. I and a couple of others figured out how to do this. Of course, this does not rule out that some of us are closeted or blatant Randoids, but those of us who are saying "Rand, ew" are obviously not good at taking every kind of test.
:funny:
Rand's metaphysics consist of the proposition that there exists an objective reality. Reality exists and it exists irrespective of one person's point of view or another. Reality is reality, and perception of reality does not change reality.
Well, FTS, anyway. Perhaps you noticed the word "ethical" in the title of this thread. It wasn't a metaphysics test.

Rand does not corner the market on selfish souls. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar, and not everyone tries to obfuscate his or her selfishness with metaphysics. Feeling the need to do that just seems kinda weird to me.

Is it? I didn't see that. How do you know it is administered by objectivists? If it is run by objectivists, then that would be a bias.

Well, you can lower the Rand factor by changing your answers to the questions. However, many people may share many of her beliefs even though they don't like her. You know, like "epistemology of reason and rational thought" seems to be something shared by a lot of atheists and methodological naturalists, and science buffs, etc.

Did you even read the questions? Clearly they were geared toward gleaning the answerers views on "objective" vs. "subjective" in many areas. Plus, one's ethical philosophy is made up of one's epistemology (how we know what we know), metaphysics (what we know), etc. Rand's metaphysics are based on the axioms of existence, consciousness, and identity.

Whatever. The point is that many people might share a good portion of her philosophical beliefs without liking her. They may think they oppose everything she said, and they may hate her, but ultimately agree with her on many points.

I was just kidding. Sort of. The website is run by people trying to think of ways of making money mainly by hosting web advertisments. I don't know who designs their tests, but the tests are so incompetent, I cannot conclude they were designed by rational people, but rather, by people who only think they value rationality. You know how that goes. I took their "Are you gay?" test. I'm a hetero male, and the test results told me that I'm a lesbian.

Well. Let's get back to discussing substance. Shall we? My comment about the test designers was, I thought, to the point. The "are you gay" test asks for a data point on the subject's gender. I chose "male", and not arbitrarily, either. The test result spat out was that I am a lesbian. This kind of faithlessness to the data, and tailoring the conclusion to the desire, is a hallmark of many presuppositional approaches, not least among which is Randian Objectivism.

Surendra, if you input 'male' and it said you're a lesbian, no sweat, eh? You do like women, right? No problem. :hehe:

Yes, the test is shit. The whole website probably is.
