Will anyone protest the Pope

Post by Lozzer » Mon Mar 29, 2010 10:49 am

Come his arrival to the UK this year? He's supposed to be performing a vigil in London. I can imagine it being a bit of a laugh.

Sounds very tempting. Anyone fancy coming along and getting arrested? It's been a while since I had the pleasure of meeting riot police.

While they come out from hiding under the robes of the pope. A pope float.

I wouldn't waste the petrol - 250 miles from here. The Pope can go poop for all I care.

Make a complaint to the police, ask that he be charged with conspiracy to commit rape.

Nobody protests anymore, man. Nobody takes risks anymore. Not in the Western World, anyway. Look at Iran, those were protests.

Not the same for a very important reason. Protests in the Western World are always done about situations elsewhere, and always in relative safety and comfort. They advocate 'peaceful' protests (Not a bad thing, usually deviations are mindless vandals) via online messageboards or flyers stapled around the city, they get permits and traffic is redirected to help avoid disruption. They negotiate with councils about which days to do it as to cause the least inconvenience.
In other words, they're neat. Nobody risks anything at these protests. They stand around and shout for an hour or so and then they go home. These protests are usually ignored because the protestors aren't doing anything which would motivate the Government to listen to them.
