Just so I'm not being misunderstood I know you haven't directly said not to talk about it but the context of your statements and the assisting of the derails indicates you would rather not have this discussion here go on. To me that is irrational.
1. I wasn't the first person to suggest that it may be best not to talk about it here. There were two Rationalia admins who initially suggested it (Ayaan and XC).
2. You are correct that I have been assisting in the derails because I'd rather the discussion not occur here. I certainly haven't been derailing alone however. In fact, I re-railed the thread a while back and DP (another Rationalia admin) literally gave me a board warning for doing so. :hehe:

Therefore, if I am being 'irrational' in that regard, I am not alone.

Saying that I was feeling 'pissed off' is an 'incident' now? I actually think I've been remarkably even-tempered given some of the comments that have been thrown my way on this thread. :dono:

People do have to bear in mind that ratskep is just a baby... and there are other priorities right now besides arguing about all the rules. It does make eminently good sense to make the RDF rules a starting point.

The ex-RDF staff do have a good record when it comes to opening discussions on how the rules on things like trolling and personal attacks should be worded and handled. It wouldn't surprise me if in the future discussions were started on things like the "no personal sex stories" thing by the staff and changes were made. But as I said before, it's not priority #1.

And rationalia is here for all your felching needs.

I don't think the word incident is overly strong to be honest. How do they say it.... "if the glove fits". :dono:

I would agree, the only reason I single you out as being most hot headed is:
All of this bitching and moaning about RatSkep here at Rationalia is quite frankly pissing me off.
And the like. I don't really want the two forums to dislike each other for petty reasons but I don't think dev was being overboard. Also I don't think I saw any comments thrown your way. If by your you mean Ratskep policy then I agree, but nothing towards you really( I read through all the pages but I might have missed something). I really don't see the problem with most of the comments here in this thread. Just some people discussing their dislike of a policy where they feel comfortable.

ScienceRob may have had something else in mind, perhaps in conjunction with this post.

All said and done, I don't know how you can possibly be surprised that we discuss the issue of "sex on the new forum" here, especially after you locked an attempt to do so at RS nine hours after it was started and was only twelve replies long.

As far as I can see, comments in this thread are primarily criticising policies and decisions, You seem to be taking those criticisms rather more personally than the comments warrant.

OK then. It seems my interpretation of some of the posts here are not shared by others. I guess it's always easier to see people's arguments as 'reasonable' when they are in agreement with you and as 'unreasonable' when they are in disagreement with you. I guess that's why I've perceived many of the arguments directed towards me in this thread as 'unreasonable' and why many of you may have perceived my arguments in this thread as 'unreasonable'.

I've said enough in this thread now. I'll leave you guys to finish discussing your opinions of ratskep policy.

I prefer not to see forum fights, unless jello is involved.

starr wrote:Dev, I know you were being mischievous with your semen thread, I just don't understand why.
Because I'm fucking devogue. :hehe: ;)
It read to me as if you were using a thread here at Rationalia as your home base and giggling with your friends about how you were going to go and stir up some trouble over at RatSkep. The issue, from my perspective, is more about who it was fun for and at whose expense? :dono:
Yeah, there was a bit of that (the giggling) but I didn't see it as stirring up "trouble" - just testing the water, so to speak.
devogue wrote: ...and settled down in to a serious discussion about the issue - please note: did I start a huge kick up or fuss about my thread about the taste of semen being removed, or did I move quickly on to a more measured tone?

If you are going to drag up my posting history, I would suggest you do so more thoroughly to show the entire picture - no one likes a quote-miner.
Please note: I actually did note that in my earlier post:
starr wrote: NOTE: You are correct that you were not inciting drama per se in any of your posts on the tech support thread. You asked a question and your question was answered.
So if you accept I wasn't inciting drama why did you blatantly accuse me of hunting out drama on page 5 of this thread (you used the word "drama" four times in a paragraph directed at me)? I suspect you were throwing a stereotype about me to the members here and hoping that the shit would stick and people would walk away thinking "She's right. Dev is a drama queen."

I will joke and feel rather embarrassed about previous incidents when I have got on my high horse here, but I won't have that label thrown at me every time I reasonably question something.
devogue wrote: Now you are making a complete fool of yourself, trying desperately to tie these two things together. As Bella has pointed out, I started that fun thread three hours before the serious thread in Tech Support was locked. I was obviously taking the piss and having a laugh.
Yes you did start it before the tech thread was locked. However, apart from my two posts, every post in your tech thread was made before you started your 'Same Bastard Mods' thread. You are making it sound as if the two couldn't possibly be related. You had been responded to by staff in your tech thread before you made your 'Same Bastard Mods' thread. I think it is quite reasonable to assume that your 'same bastard mods' thread had something to do with you having been told that RatSkep would be working under the same FUA that RDF did with regard to personal sexual disclosure. :dono:
The two are absolutely not related. Perhaps you could have checked with someone like Topsy, who I have a great deal of affection for, whether I would seriously call her a bastard - right the way through that thread there are jokey remarks, self-disparaging remarks from mods with a sense of humour. It was a bit of bloody fun - if I was serious I would have started it in Tech Support with a far less incendiary title. I will add a post in that thread to make clear that I was joking, just to clarify.
As for the rest of it:

1. Please note I said 'our' FUA and that was not intended to exclude you. Yes you are part of the RatSkep community just like I am part of the Rationalia community.
Indeed. I noticed that you didn't wish to take part in the poll I started and the whole issue was well debated and the poll was removed - I know that if I wanted to gripe about it I could open a thread here in Tech Support and no matter how many pages it went on I would be safe in the knowledge that no moderator would lock the discussion because we think it is worthwhile talking about things here rather than slapping down opinions.
2. As much as some of you 08-schism veterans disagree, Off Topic at RDF was a community where people let their hair down and had fun. In the same way, Off Topic at RatSkep is a community where people are letting their hair down and having fun. If people want the particular brand of 'letting their hair down and having fun' that is on offer at Rationalia then what is wrong with suggesting that they can come here and participate in that. :dono: Some people, like me, enjoy both atmospheres and find community in both places.
That's a very fair and reasonable point - it's completely at odds with my own view, but that's why healthy discussion is necessary and desirable.
4. If you have issues about RatSkep then raise them with the staff at RatSkep. All of this bitching and moaning about RatSkep here at Rationalia is quite frankly pissing me off.
As has been pointed out by others I tried to raise the issues at RatSkep but the thread was locked - and it's still bloody locked. Seriously, Starr, how difficult would it have been to say "Hang on, there's more to this than a dozen posts - there are several highly prolific posters from here and RDF who are concerned about this..." and just reopen the thread? Not that it matters to me personally now - never mind the sex thing, there are far worse problems than that. It's totally ridiculous that this discussion about policy on another forum with a moderator from that forum is taking place here - but don't forget whose fault that is.

See it as an equivalent to having sex in the university building then.

Yeah, look, he only acts like a prude over at RS so he can keep his incredible powers there. Actually he would love to engage in cybersex all the time. :naughty:

Or I am in fact aware that different forums have different cultures and will play along as long as I wish to. :td:
